I think that music reflects our mental state of the moment. Basically he is asking her if she is stuck in the past listening to their song, like he is. Or has she moved to songs that are allowing her to heal, or songs that get her moving and dancing. Or has she moved on and found a new love and a new "their" song. All the while he is stuck in the past with their song thinking if he could just fix it, find out what went wrong, she would come back.

Chris covers every part of our lives that music touches - from the everyday norm of riding a train to work, or trying to figure how a good relationship goes bad, or feeling good about life in the good times...he says it all with those lyrics that instantly brings so many pictures to our minds....all I can say is ... So glad to see you react to this one. My ex-girlfriend and I reconnected over this song after a couple years apart when I sent her this exact video. We've been back together for 5 and married for over 2 years now and couldn't be happier. Chris Stapleton, and this song especially, will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Love your reactions but I have a different interpretation. He’s reminiscing about an ex girlfriend. He’s wondering where she is and what she’s doing. The line about listening to a love song with someone new says to me that she’s moved on and got a new man in her life. She’s listening to music with her new man like Chris and her used to do. The line about how good love goes bad is about him regretting letting her go and losing what they had.

Very similar.....he knows it was a good thing whatever the distance there is hope, he wants to believe there is a chance that she is like him trying to figure it out how to get back together but he is unsure is she like him, is she upset, is she with another?

Country music radio rejected this when it came out and the susequent album has been scrapped and has not been heard to this day. Traveller did not hit until almost two years later. But the recorded version of this sounds like crap.
