Britain has become the latest country to join the hypersonic weapons race which has so far had the US, Russia and China as the main players. Britain is planning to arm its military with a homegrown hypersonic cruise missile that would enter service by 2030, according to The Telegraph. The British military wants a weapon that can reach speeds exceeding Mach 5 as the country races to catch up with China, Russia and the US. The UK's new hypersonic missiles would reportedly be able to hit Moscow in just 24 minutes, reports claim. According to The Telegraph, one option is a weapon that could be fitted to a fighter jet like the Typhoon or F-35.

Britain chose the naval option when they disbanded the USA Air force option post cold War. The Royal Air Force nuclear option was stopped in 1998 They can still strike with 48 nuclear warheads by submarines. Land option is a dead duck and never considered as resourceful.

@gerryrohan8149 it is used on specific targets, namely bunkers with officers.It would be very wasteful to just launch it at a building.And in Ukraine there are many bunkers and it is not known in which one Zelensky is sitting and he usually changes them.And Russia does not need to make a martyr out of Zelensky, especially Putin promised not to touch him, so he feels confident in Ukraine.
