UK Singles Charts : July/August 1981

The Kraftwerk single was a double A side with Computer Love on one side and The Model on the other. It got to number 36 in the charts in July 1981 on this release,with Computer Love being the side that was getting the airplay on the radio and the Top 40 charts shows. The single returned to the charts at the start of 1982,this tiome with The Model as the track getting all the airplay. On that occasion it went to number 1.

Amazing how these songs are 43 years old! Rose Tattoo....famous for their lead singer Angry Anderson with the beautiful power ballad 'Suddenly' a big hit in 1988. This an excellent list of songs here 👍 Lot of rock here (which is always a good thing 👍) and classics both popular and forgotten. Is Diana Williams entry an actual song?! So many to choose from here with favourites. Motorhead, ABBA, Soft Cell, Stevie Wonder, Kim Wilde, Hi-Gloss (probably my #1 here - classic one hit wonder), UB40, The Human League (what was with the stalking in their videos?), Spandau Ballet (been listening to their early stuff a fair bit lately), Saxon. The Pointer Sisters, Ultravox, Genesis, Foreigner, Randy Crawford, Ottawan (sorry but it's a guilty pleasure) and don't hate me Cliff Richard's effort I like from this list. Too many to list.

I'm generally surprised at the amount of Disco / Disco type tunes, so far past it's 'heyday'. Love or loathe it, it's got staying power, even today

Disco went strong until 1982. And died a sudden death in 1983. The first three years of the 80s were very 70s influenced.

It is easy to understand, as it is a style that has been consolidated for many years, many singles are made from it, and even if it is in low positions, many songs appear on the list.
