Wow what a collection! I only had winter tales and a recorded copy of a tale of two toads so was very pleased when the entire collection was released on DVD

The Bumper Special tape was the first one I got back in February 2007 when I started collecting the tapes for myself. Got it from a market stall in Leeds. Remember then getting the seasonal tapes as a joblot from Ebay around the same time. Think the film and "Further Adventures of Toad "I found on a market stall and at a car boot sale respectively, "Masquarade", the 'Toad' double pack, "Happy Birthday", "School Days" and "Oh Mr Toad" I got from Ebay and the rest I got from a private seller. Seem to recall the "Oh Mr Toad" tape being a bit difficult to track down but I got there in the end.

I'm pretty sure your Thames Video Collection copy of the film was a later issue. The original copies of that tape would have had the Thames Video Collection logo but as is the case with releases of shows such as Sooty and Rainbow, later copies of the tapes have a Video Collection label.

This definitely brings back memories! The videos were hard to find. We managed to have 7 of these videos in our family collection of video cassettes back in the day. And you are right, the cover illustrations are very good. Just shared this video with my mum. I don't know where we would be today without a part of Wind in the Willows giving us light in our world. Thanks for sharing Richard

I understand the stigma of being a teen and kind of growing out of Wind in the Willows. My brother used to nag at me and I would get teased by others for liking animated shows past pre-teen years. But we have to live our lives and enjoy what we like, Plus the show is not babyish anyway. It doesn't insult our Intelligence when we watch it. Now, I luckily found a copy of the Further Adventures of Toad video in the late 90s, when I was about 6 and it would have been brand new at the time, I think. My Mum kindly bought it me and it was the version that had the Storm on the cover. A few years later, my friend bought the copy with Patient Toad on the cover from a charity shop. However, when we watched it, it also had The Storm on it. A bit ago, I discussed on the group if anyone actually had a copy of the video with the Patient Toad episode on it, and one of our members Sean, told me that he had bought all the videos brand new in the 80s and Thames had made an error with the Further Adventures of Toad video, apparently the tape had always had The Storm on it, but they made an error on the packaging, so the packaging was re-released, to show the correct episode.

Hey Aaron, thanks so much for clarifying that regarding 'The Further Adventures of Toad' VHS release. I always wondered what the story was, so it's good to know - it does make sense. I'm surprised 'The Storm' was considered a 'Toad-centered' episode, but then at least 'Patient: Toad' was released on the 1989 'Lollipop' video, 'Patient: Toad and Other Stories' - so that's probably why they chose 'The Storm'.
@bazbanter93293 жыл бұрын
@@animatorhaynes Yeah, I've always thought the change of choice was because of the lollipop video as well. The chosen episodes for the Further Adventures of Toad video do seem a lot more random with the Storm

I remember having a Wind In The Willows cassette, ‘Spring Follies’, but one with ‘The Lost River’ on it, but my cassette tape got damaged in my cassette player and burned out and I threw it away afterwards, much to my upset, but the casing had the ‘Paperchase’ written on it, but the tape had ‘The Lost River’ on it. It was a great tape, but I had the film on VHS as well, along with some of my Thomas and Sooty videos, along with some Captain Scarlet and Thunderbirds videos.

Thanks for the comment, Lewis. Yes it was confusing with that 'Spring Follies' release. 'The Lost River' is a great episode, but I always preferred 'Paperchase' - I think that's one of the absolute best.

The Video Collection children's trailer from 1995 doesn't appear in The Wind in the Willows: 2 on 1 - 2 Complete Videos on One Tape - A Tale of Two Toads and Spring Follies.

The Video Collection children's trailer from 1992-1995 appears in The Wind in the Willows videos and The VCI children's trailer from 1996-1997 appears in the Wind in the Willows videos. But the VCI children's trailer 1995-1996 doesn't appears in The Wind in the Willows: Autumn Antics (1995 Re-release) and Summer Escapades (1997 Re-release).

Thanks for the detail Owen, the trailers are great in themselves.

Out of interest Richard do you have any information about international vhs releases and do you own any?
