I loved hearing about the festival; you picked up some beautiful goodies! A while ago I picked up a gorgeous tweed sock yarn that is sky blue with rainbow flecks and those are such a fave pair of socks of mine. And I love the fabulous “zebra” barber pole twist sock yarns - they knit up so beautifully!

In hindsight I wish I’d picked up some of those zebra yarns, they’re gorgeous! I clearly just need to go to more shows, that’s the obvious answer 😂

@@emily_knits_ Hi! I have to admit to only living here in Menston for almost four years , so not really from here but absolutely loving it . I made my way up from Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire , Norfolk and now Yorkshire as my son has recently moved here. I am interested in the Yorkshire history of the wool industry and am looking at the mills still working up here . I live a few miles from Laxtons who made a miraculous return to the industry in,I think, the 90’s and am trying yarns from World of Wools in Huddersfield . Laxons supply Rowan and Hedgehog yarns and many other indie dyers with bases. As I am sure World of Wool in Huddersfield do. I have tried a few KZbinrs I have discovered in the area ( sorry haven’t learned how to link KZbin) My Yarny Corner is Alex from Burley in Wharfedale FrannyDo Makes from Leeds BotanicalYarn nearer York Eden cottage yarns nearer Wetherby? These are lovely but possibly a bit on the sparkly / pink side for my current projects Purl and Jane from Skipton is lovely and is very helpful with tutorials Really enjoying Genevieve in the North , a Canadian but living near Newcastle? Who is designing a fantastic Bighorn colour work sweater Would love to know if anyone else is out there. My other son has recently moved near to Edinburgh which is a totally different rabbit hole ... I'm not sure what happened but I watched this podcast earlier today and left a comment on it but it disappeared along with the podcast , now it's back but no comments. Anyway I will leave another comment but I'm worrying I'm repeating myself. I went to Wool Monty on the Sunday. It's a really good show and I enjoyed the larger isles which gave a lot of room and you don't feel all crammed in. Especially love the extra seating. I go thought the lighting was terrible which was a shame for the vendors. I found though if you switch your torch on your phone you got a more realistic shade/colour. I've been to Buxton wool gathering which was a lovely small event. In the past I've been to Yarndale which is a lovely event, very large and very busy. I think I now prefer smaller events. I hope to go to Bakewell yarn event in October. xxx

Sorry Marion, I had to repost it - someone pointed out that I’d got the sound mixing wrong and my clips of the show were louder than my talking and it was hard to hear me! I’m glad you found the lighting the same, I wondered if I was just being picky. Bakewell is not too far from me so I think I might try to attend later in the year. Xx

I'm sight impaired but crochet and that light would be a nightmare for me, which would make it inaccessible for me. As would the fairy lights as my eyes splinter the light in that type of lighting.

I did wonder about that - my mum and I both struggled and I wear glasses but otherwise have fairly OK sight, and it was challenging. I really hope they make a change on that for the next year.
