The fact that Oikawa can point out the same thing as Coach Ukai, even though he's much younger, really shows that he's an amazing player

For sure. It shows his experience and quality which is why he is better than Kageyama even though Kageyama is a genius. I think there was one more moment where Oikawa's and Ukai's thinking matched, with "No team is guaranteed victory" quote. Both of them said it at different times iirc. I love how subtle the series is with these type of stuff.. there are also other instances with other players that I don't see people notice lol

One of the biggest things to remember is how unrefined Hinata is. Hinata is a ton of physical prowess and instinct but he's simply not a trained volleyball player. He LOVES volleyball AND he wants to be better at volleyball but we saw his training circumstances: Getting his non-volleyball friends to help him, solo drills by himself and the odd practice with the women's recreational league. When Kageyama and Hinata figured out their quick, we can see it's very much a Kageyama led attack: He serves the ball into Hinata's striking arc and it's so reliable Hinata hits it with his eyes closed, which is absolutely incredible. Kageyama IS a refined volleyball player. He's not only a fan of volleyball, he loves it just like Hinata does but he had the ability to start REAL volleyball far before Hinata could. He's been in club volleyball playing with other people who also love volleyball for YEARS in comparison to Hinata. And it's (to me anwyay) kind of implied that the rest of Karasuno's regulars have a similar volleyball background to Kageyama and are all way ahead of Hinata in terms of volleyball skills. In the first practice match against Seijoh, Oikawa immediately picked out Tsuki and Hinata as unskilled players and even went on to target Tsuki's lack of receiving prowess. I feel the core of their argument is Hinata knows he's unskilled and if their Quick Attack can be stopped then he feels he has no place on the court. Kageyama now being able to see Karasuno as the full team it is, is realizing Hinata's lack of fundamental volleyball skills (Hinata is JUST learning Tempos which is something those kids under grandpa Ukai already knew and taught Hinata) could be detriment to the overall team balance once their quick is shut down. Kageyama KNOWS there's potential in Hinata but it's frustrating to not know how to bring that out in an underskilled player and, of course, Kageyama absolutely does not know how to verbalize that. Mix in the frustration of the season 1 loss plus the amount of diving drills at the practice matches EVERY loss and well, it all kind of imploded. They're both realizing they have to change and improve in order to keep their team together. But it's frustrating when you're in the moment and don't have the answer right in front of you. Luckily, that's what this episode was about! I love how Kageyama was immediately on board with learning this new way of setting. He does know he's partners with Hinata. He knows there's power in their connection. And Hinata knows he's got to improve overall as well if he wants to stay on the court. Jumping and swinging with your eyes closed is no way to play volleyball.

This episode destroyed the whole "Kageyama is selfish who doesn't want to let Hinata shine" thing. He ate his pride, asked Oikawa for advice, knowing how much the other hated him, thought about what he told him, analyzed it, took into account what Hinata said and made a decision. Sometimes I feel that people underestimate Kageyama too much and the boy is sometimes not even half of what they think ahshshs. People don't call him a genius for nothing, he knows about volleyball and so far it looks like he has grown not only to be a good individual player but also for a team. Does he need to grow?? Yes, I mean he's only 15 years old but that's why he continues playing, to be able to continue learning and growing, the thing with Hinata was something else with which he could learn and continue building himself as a person as well.

The thing is Hinata wants to stay in the court while lacking other important facets of volleyball(he can't serve, receive, nor block) and Kageyama just wants him to improve upon his fundamentals before he levels up on hitting(which ultimately takes a lot more effort on Kageyama in the end).
@sangi1846
@sangi1846 Жыл бұрын
It's actually not about letting hinata shine or not. We know how kageyama's single mindedness ended up in his previous team and how he's trying to change and become a team player right now. But you might notice if you look carefully that he is overcompensating at times to be a team player and that will be talked about later on. So he saw hinata's stance as trying to topple the balance of the team..and fact is, he isn't actually wrong from one point of view. It's just he wasn't seeing pr understanding hinata's pov. But now he's thinking about it and doing his part to learn the new thing.

5:55 "ohhh this is Oikawas chance!" No no no, this is about Kageyama. 😂😂😂😂. Oikawa is a prideful and fierce competitor, he's not going to just easily give away information to a prodigy like Kageyama
@coco-sh2ny

Kageyama often dictate his teammates in the past, the coach is not guiding him enough unlike Ukai and Takeda. What I mean is, the coach is not explaining things for him, despite of his skills, of course he's a kid and the coach should set things straight for his players. His teammates doesn't have enough patience for his “kingly” or “dictator” attitude before unlike now that he has Karasuno especially having Hinata by his side. I'm not blaming the past coach and teammates he had before, just wanna clarify. He has now seniors who doesn't just understand him, but also guides him to grow as a player and an individual, that teamwork and adjusting for one another is important. He was destined to be with Karasuno. Many people has been undervaluing or undermines Kageyama's lifetime hard work because he's a “genius” or a “ prodigy”. That boy grew up working hard to be in that level, but just not guided enough. But now, he's evolving, developing, and growing🤍

This was a great training episode for everone. Love how other members are also inspired by Hinata's thirst to improve and they do not want to restrict themselves to their weapons. Always trying out new techniques. Also, I believe everyone is trying out new things or improve sides they are weak at though we havn't seen them yet. For Kageyama, I feel the genius he is, made it hard for him to accept other's opinions. But he came back strong given his passion for volleyball. You could say we see another development on his character. Great reaction.Can't wait for the next episodes!!!!

The thing about what happened last episode is not about Kageyama not letting Hinata shine. Anyone can improve in their own like serves and receiving (which Hinata will explore in the future) but asking the team to change things up when the tournament is so close already actually does destroy team balance because they will make more mistakes in the court during games. Kageyama is overcompensating with the team mentality but it's not exactly wrong either. It just piss me off that I keep hearing negative things about Kageyama when his suggestion to Hinata to work on serves and receives during the fight is also very valid. Again this only worked out because Hinata is actually a really fast learner but put this in real life and I will tell you changing things up so close to a tournament will only lead to mistakes instead of actual improvement.

It's from this moment i was really hooked by the show, the incredible feeling to see the majority of players striving to improve individual weapons to make the team better, and the feeling you get like "they can go far as a team, i want to see the result" is something that is not so recurrent in sports anime, where it is difficult to see concretely in which areas and how the players are improving. This “realistic” side is very satisfying here.

Its a show that started pretty small but has a great premise and despite the animation graphics(it's a cgi animation) are kinda trash in the first seasons, the fighting scenes are simply awesome, plus a lot of good characters. You can really sense the passion that has gone into it, especially in the OST, i really think Ange is going to love it.
