The year is 1929. The singer: Cliff Edwards, a/k/a "Ukelele Ike." The film: "The Hollywood Revue." It is the first all-talking, all-singing, all-dancing movie ever made. In the years that followed, "Singin' in the Rain" would become something of a theme song here at MGM. In the 1930s, Jimmy Durante would give us this rendition. By the 1940s, Judy Garland was doing it her way. Finally, in the 1950s, Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor put it all together in what many folks still call the best musical ever made. If you're wondering about what happened in between ...... well, you just sit back and relax. You're about to find out.

Richard Washington I don't know if MGM billed this as the first all talking all dancing...etc but it's not. MGM released The Broadway Melody of 1929 before this. It is referenced in this movie. It won the best picture Academy Award.

Yes, it also included a background scene of Noah's Ark, along with a group of film stars of the 20s and 30s. Buster Keaton, Joan Crawford, Marie Dressler and others.
