In their recent manifestos, political parties laid out their plans for policies that they felt could solve some of the key issues facing the UK.
But what are the main public policy challenges to be confronted? Will the new government prioritise long-term policymaking over quick-fix solutions? And will the promises made to the public stand up to scrutiny?
As Parliament returns from its summer recess, UK in a Changing Europe has assembled a team of experts to discuss the key policy challenges facing the UK and whether the parties' plans to confront them are fit for purpose.
Panel
Anand Menon (chair), UK in a Changing Europe
Ben Zaranko, Institute for Fiscal Studies
Jill Rutter, UK in a Changing Europe
Sarah Hall, University of Cambridge
Jonathan Portes, King's College London
