I new Tui back in the 50s, we called him Cow Boy, he could sing then, when he came into Rotorua he was always dressed up with his cowboy hat on, Perret's corner was all way's our meeting place, then in the 80s, I had a Taxi in Wellington, my number was Taxi 36, he all ways asked for me to take him out to Avalon to do his performing, plus when he performed out the hutt Hotel. plenty memories plus we went to his wedding., Noel Hamon

YES HE WAS A GREAT GUY, AND HIS WIFE, I USE TO SIT WITH THEM AT THE HOTEL WHERE THEY PERFOMED OUT THE HUTT, I AAM TRYING TO REMEMBER THE NAME, AFTER THEY FINISHED PERFORMING, LATE HOURS WE ALLWAYS CALLED INTO THE TAKE AWAY'S AND BOY, HIS ORDER, I WON'T TELL YOU, I HAD GOOD TIMES WITH HIM FROM THE 5O'S.

Saw him perform at he Harmonie German Club, Canberra 1974. The complete entertainer -great voice, very charismatic.

Reminds me of my Grandad cos my Grandad went to his concert when I was a kid. Tui was a Legend and so was my Grandad!

I can remember going to the Royal Easter Show at the old Sydney Showground. Tui had a group called The Maori Troubadours. They travelled all around NSW and Qld to the local shows and would perform. They were a great band and Tui had the most beautiful voice.

I remember when i was a child and one of the telethons was on (i remember this as i was allowed to stay up to watch it) and Uncle Tui was in our lounge with my parents munching and drinking and having a great laugh. I remember it was like yesterday only it was about 28 or so years ago..... Awesome memories
