freebrickproductions Thanks. Yes, this is one weird and long crossing with some old barriers and wigwags. Some crossings in your country might even be longer with the tracks which cross over a junction or a highway / boulevard crossing.
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel8 жыл бұрын
Lol. A 6 track crossing here is the longest. And I like to think that this location is quite rare. You clearly have some more weird and wonderful railroad crossings =)
@freebrickproductions8 жыл бұрын
I was rewatching this video when I noticed something. The gate lights on the crossing at 0:25 appear to be American Lantern-style gate lights made by WRRS (or Western Cullen Hayes, depending on when they were installed, but WCH has never bothered to change the molds on the bases so they all say "WRRS" on them), which is rather odd, especially since Lantern gate lights here in the US tend to be rather rare!
@maproductions99457 жыл бұрын
Pause at 0:14 That sequence is quite messed up, one amber was on while the reds were on at the other side.
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel7 жыл бұрын
It's weird indeed. It seems that a lot of these particular wigwags (Forest City Halogens) seem to have different flash phases. These wigwags are very old and probably date back at least 30 years or so. The old equipment on heritage railway crossings rarely gets touched. Looks cool though and I see what you mean by being 'messed up'. Certainly looks a bit.

Intriguing how the alarms do not blare on the swing bridge crossing but they do blare on the rail crossing.
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel3 жыл бұрын
There are alarms for the swing bridge but they are only used if the swing bridge is in operation. This is because there isn't actually any point where pedestrians can cross the railway line on the bridge, and since the barriers are only blocking the road here, no alarms are needed. There are alarms at the other crossing with warning lights and the footpath crossing at the other end of the bridge (shown in the middle of the video).

Thanks for your comment. The wigwags aren't *that* old since this crossing was most likely installed in the 1980s. There are some crossings with older wigwags. Can I ask in what way is it rare to see a train crossing it? It's in use every week at least twice for the bitumen trains. When the steam railway runs it's used numerous times a day.

When I meant "very rare", I was talking about the level crossing and not the frequency of trains. The crossing runs over a swing bridge which is very rare to see in the UK.
