With all due respect for Dom: The AMX-10 is not an armored personnel carrier (APC) "battlefield taxi." Nor is it comparable to the "dogs of war," variety of mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicles. It is a lightly-armored reconnaissance vehicle, intended for cavalry units to provide scouting and screening. They have very good optics, since their role is to find the enemy. But they are not intended to close and give battle with well-entrenched enemies, much less with enemies supported by artillery, aviation, and heavy armor.

My wife is Russian and she left because she could not live in a society built on fear. Russians are always scared, especially the men. That's why so many men rape women. That's why homophobia is so pronounced. They need to beat up on someone weaker to overcome their own sense of inferiority. The state is built on maintaining this level of fear because it makes the population predictable and easy to control.

The statement is too simplifying. Calling russians weak for a lack of civil protest against this unjustified war seems to me like a tribesman calling me weak because I can't hunt a gazelle. For goodness sake get it right! The AMX10 is NOT an Armoured Personnel Carrier. It is a lightly armoured, nimble recce vehicle with a fairly large calibre main gun. Use it for what it was intended and it is a very capable if slightly outdated vehicle. Yes it could be used to compliment in an artillery barrage and would remain useful in flanking and supplying direct fire on a trench system - and then get out and report what it has found in order for those controlling the battlefield to decide what assets they have to best rid themselves of any threat. Hope that clears it up.

Again, not to put too fine a point to it, the AMX-10 is NOT an APC and it is NOT a front-line assault vehicle. It simply lacks the carrying capacity for a significant component of troops to perform the role of APC. Also it lacks the robust heft and armour that would make it useful in the role of front-line assault. What it does have though, is stealth, speed and agility, as well as a an awfully big 'stick' to mete out punishment to proper effect as well as excellent optics and observation features as well as comms make proper use of information gleaned by these. The logical thought would therefore be the use of this particular vehicle in a cavalry scouting role. Either scouting in sneaky, stealthy, seeing without being seen variety and use its gun to snipe when opportunity or necessity arises, or the aggressive mobility requiring 'deep' recce in force (Kharkiv offensive style), where they are operating 'close-to-the-vest' or preferably behind lines of the opponent and with that obviating opponent's counter measures due to a uncertainty of whereabouts and reluctance to inflict 'friendly' casualties when applying artillery, etc, too close to own positions. One may think that the desperation for font-line assault capacity may lead a higher commander of a unit to act like the man who is fond of using a hammer and thus seeing every problem or challenge to have a distinctive nail-shape. He should however realise that he has a less robust, but very useful screwdriver in his hand and therefore might do better to seek opportunity and application to apply his available means to screw his opponent with it.

Technically true, but I believe it's quite comparable to the Italian Centauro (employed as tank destroyer) and the American Stryker MGS (employed as IFV). And that's just two of the many "wheeled gun carrier" vehicles. I expect the reason it's classified as recce has more to do with where it fits in the French doctrine rather than its capabilities, though it would be interesting to know more. Ultimately, this concept is plagued with a myriad of compromises.

Maybe in time But the West do not want to give them now as no use when they cant be used Only when men are well trained on them and then maybe shall be time to send the F16s to the Ukraine ..as they wont send them over now until the men are trained on them plus they dont want Russains get a hold of the latest and best jets on the go As dont forget troops have stolen tanks and such from enemy from both sides and we dont want such with the very best fighter jets stolen by the Russians But in time i think F16s maybe shall be sent ..but as said only when men from Ukraine are trained in their use only ..and this shall take time ..But id like see Ukraine with some form of air power very soon within their Skies above to aid their troops be it helicopters or jets .

The odds of anyone being 'brought to justice' is so remote it seems almost laughable how many people spend their lives doing work that will almost certainly lead nowhere. It would be money better spent on medical supplies and support logistics. The only time this happens is when an exterior force wins an unconditional surrender from the aggressor. Since the current plan is not to cause such a surrender why is so much time being wasted? Any treaty will no doubt contain language to free anyone important from prosecution. The only other answer is Ukraine topples the Russian government which the west doesn't want.

If Russia is unable to overcome Ukraine, there will most likely be unrest that drives many elites out (prigozhin’s march sent them scattering). Pursuing justice is not work that leads nowhere. Documenting the facts, and documenting who should be held accountable is important in itself. Dom is spot on describing the majority of Russians as "petty and weak...too scared to stand up to the brutality of the system". However, I think this is a symptom not a reason. The reason is generations of Russians growing up on a culture of learning by rote, parroting their books, parents and authority, and discouraged to think for themselves. Their brains are irreversibly pickled. This is a problem I found in China, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and to a certain degree, India (I used to travel extensively). This also explains the scarcity of creativity in those countries.

On observing the behaviour of Russian representatives and their ability to articulate their lies without any emotion or empathy, I came to the came to the same conclusion as Dom. In fact I describe them as cowards. It seems to me that they don’t have the imagination or the inspiration to figure out how to solve their internal problems so they conspire to create distractions, such as invading Ukraine, or just ignoring the problem and hope that it just goes away.

Well said, - but we can't ignore Russia - unless we push back they will be a threat forever and cause more pain and anguish. We should not expect Ukraine to shoulder the burden of our defense - NATO will have to get involved eventually. Bode gatov !

31:05 French AMX 10 are more similar to what we would have in the past called a tank destroyer.... But honestly I'm not sure that fits either since the main armament isn't powerful enough to knock out MBTs... On the other hand if used in a skirmishing , hit and run tactics, and mainly as a semi-urban infantry support vehicle, maybe that would be more appropriate... They honestly just cannot possibly be considered by themselves as main front line vehicles. Maybe accompanying MBTs and lighter armed IFVs??? Obviously Dom would have a better overall understanding, but honestly again, he might have to go and think about this for a week before he could give us a good answer on this, because I never understood the AMX 10

@@paulgibbon5991 Sounds a lot like Ukraine, with numerous videos of people being grabbed off the street and sent to the front as cannon fodder with a few days of training just to get blown up by Russian firepower. It needs to be said that Russia isn't conscripting men but mobilised men that already have gone through military service as well as offering well structured contracts for all that serve.

AMX10RC should be used as mobile fire support in UA's case. Pointless rolling it unto the front and expecting it to live. Very mobile compared to an MBT. Use it for indirect fire support 4/5 miles off the front.
