When the UK started delivering planeloads of nlaws to the Ukraine a full month before the invasion began, I thought war was inevitable. Must admit, I was very pleased with Boris making that decision because as you say, it is a fight for global Democracy and we have to protect each other. Putin saw an opportunity with what he saw as a weak American leadership(no offense meant if you're American!) and he didn't think any other Western country would do anything. When Britain led the way it was then less escalatory for the US to do the same. Without the early supply of British and American antitank weaponry, Ukraine may have fallen. We should have helped them when they invaded Crimea, appeasement is seen as weakness by any dictator. We had to help them fight, they're the ones shedding blood but they also got rid of all their nuclear weapons with the clear understanding that we would have their back. We let them down over Crimea but we are redeeming ourselves now.........not before time!!

They are certainly treated worse than Russian speakers are in Ukraine (if you know anything about the place or the language at all then you would know that a good part of the Ukrainian soldiers you see interviewed are Russian speakers). Stalin also deported the indigenous Crimean Tatars in 1944, banned their return and replaced them with Russians. How about the Tatars take back their homeland? Under Ukraine there was no problem with them returning to Crimea. Many of them left again because they have been so badly persecuted under Russia. So no, Russia has no inherent right to Crimea anymore than France has a right to Quebec.

EVERYONE ultimately wants peace, absolutely everyone! But not at the expense of the inspirational Ukrainian people who have suffered immensely at the hands of the invaders. Nobody should get to sit around a negotiation table until Zelensky decides to do so, it's his call and nobody else's. This needs to be fully understood. Naturally, this order from the commander-and-chief of Ukraine will not come until he is fully satisfied that his government is in a powerful position from which to negotiate. There will be NO cowardly sellout of Ukraine's sovereign territory under any circumstances, and rightly so! Russia must, and will leave all of the territory it illegally annexed since its invasion on Feb 24th, 2022. The brave Ukrainian people who died in this Russian war of CHOICE, will not have done so in vain. Make no mistake, ALL Russian forces 'must leave' Ukrainian Crimea as well. Russia cannot be allowed to remain in Crimea as it would only be used by them as a platform to regroup and re-attack Ukraine. The Kerch Bridge should also be targeted and destroyed behind them. This simply has to be the outcome, or there will NEVER be peace in Ukraine. Putin and his cronies will be standing trial in The Hague and justice will be done at last. Slava Ukraine. Crimea will be your crowning glory.
