You know nothing about the military. Russia was preparing to invade Sumy. So Ukraine attacked first to disrupt the plans and make them fight on Russian soil and not Ukrainian. And also as a bargaining tool.

Besides how simple recruits and border guards could invade Sumy, if you look at the map the red lines are defensive lines meaning that russians expected an attack, but were taken by surprise. Finally the reinforcments took like one or two weeks to arrive at Kursk if the russians were preparing to open a new front then why the well-prepared soldiers were somewhere else?

Unfortunately ISW's Kursk Map does not show it and this project is tied to it. While I do appreciate what ISW is doing in general, the few problems I've had so far with em have made me consider switching to another map source - which I might have to do for further updates. The other issue is the inclusion of ISWs Russian claims, which shows the region North East of Malaya Loknya completely incorrectly for far too long. To be fair to ISW, each map source shows something different to any other - hence neither is completely correct.

Unfortunately, ISW is becoming incompatible with what I'd like to show - incursion into UA is missing, and inclusion of ISW's RU claims have become a problem. I am considering siwtching the map in further updates to indeed DeepState - and making the corrections.

Then let's say there's a cousin you get along with, not always perfectly but you're alright and you even lend him money in order for him to make business, mostly because you want him to be on your side and because you feel a bit guilty of mistreating him in the past. But then, the person you heavily dislike starts trying to influence your cousin, offering more money than what you're lending to him and convincing him that it's best for him to get away from you. Now, some people in the cousin's household are very close to you and don't want to turn their backs on you, and that angers the cousin greatly so he starts to mistreat them badly, both physically and financially. @@warmaps78 "Veseloe" is not the main direction of attack, it was a diversionary maneuver in the west of the map. The city itself was not taken. The screenshots provided show that "Novyi Put" was just taken. But not the city of "Veseloe". They tried to encircle "Veseloe" but it did not work.

Please note that since the Kursk Invasion map is tied to ISW - and includes Russian claims, which were proven false (or a previous GEO located attack failed, but was marked as successful) - the region north east of Malaya Loknya is currently incorrectly displaying the area as being under control of Russia. The area is under control of Ukraine, and Russia is currently conducting an offensive into the region, which the map animation does not show. To see a more correct display of the region, you can check this source: map.ukrdailyupdate.com/?lat=51.243650&lng=35.297012&z=11&d=20074&c=1&l=0 or use any other that you find credible, and up to date. The map also does not show the incursion into Ukraine.

Unfortunately, the map is tied to the ISW's Kurk map (and includes its RU claims), which does not show the incursion into Ukraine (and there are other issues). As I said in another comment, I may switch the map to another source. As much as I appreciate ISW, it just isn't compatible any more with what I'm trying to do with the animation.
