I understand the hatred that Ukrainians have for Russians, but hatred towards the Soviet Union makes no sense. The Ukrainians had rulers within the Kremlin, Konstantin Chernenko and Leonid Brezhnev, Mikail Gorbachev was also of Ukrainian descent. But the person who loved Ukraine the most was Nikita Khrushchev, who was raised in eastern Ukraine. Therefore, this against the Soviet Union does not have much place when the aggressor is not the USSR but an imperialist Russia

@nomnomstirn1532
@nomnomstirn1532 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheBucketSkill What about this is American politics? American politics is garbage, and so is the act of destroying the statue. Since the statue never was mean’t to symbolize anything bad, the statue was just there to symbolize unity. The fact that the SSRs were united against the invading Nazis, which had committed several atrocities to the people of the USSR. Then being able to defeat the Nazis despite their slight differences, in order to preserve the many people who lived within the nation and the nation itself isn’t anything bad. It’s sad to see such a monument go, since it really was only there to symbolize unity, and if needed it could have gotten a new meaning of unity, from the Ukrainians who stood united in their defense of Ukraine. But instead the people decided to throw away their history of unity and what it brought them. Since the Ukraine SSR was the first to fall during the patriotic war and despite the military failures which had allowed it to fall, non-Ukrainians from many parts of the Union fought for their Union and the Ukrainian SSR. Which allowed them to liberate the Ukraine SSR, and save the USSR which had kept each SSR secure through unity despite their differences. Though Stalin wasn’t exactly a good person, and the politicians who led each country didn’t really like each other. Stalin and those politicians, shouldn’t represent the people of the USSR who gave their lives fighting for it and what the USSR means to people, since to many Russians it’s a symbol of unity and strength. But sadly for the people who’d taken down the statue their hatred for Russia and the demonization of the USSR by Ukrainian propaganda, didn’t see that statue, as a statue of Unity and the many achievements brought to them by Unity, but instead as a symbol of Russian expansionism. So sad 😥.

It is already past that point. Russias stance is they want Ukraine to formally surrender and give Crimea, Mariupol, Donbas, and Luhansk to Russia, or else Russia will continue murdering Ukrainians and levelling their cities. Obviously if they don't give their country to Russia, they are Nationalist Ukrainian Nazis. This will be a temporary peace, because with all the anti-Russian sentiment Putin has created in Ukraine he can be sure Ukrainians will strive to push any pro-Russian Russian speaking nationals in Ukraine out.... which will be Putin's excuse to re-invade in a few years and demand that they give up even more land in exchange for him to stop murdering them. Ukraine's stance is they don't owe Russia anything, Ukraine is Ukraine and its territories defined by international law. Russia should stop murdering Ukrainians and leave these areas immediately. This includes Crimea, Luhansk, and Donbas. Once the Russian militaries leave these areas, the "Ukrainian Nationalists" that suddenly appeared after Russia militarilly occupied Ukraine and claimed it was part of Russia will just as mysteriously disappear, since they won't have any foreign armies on their soil anymore. If Russia does this Putin *might* be able to get out of a war crimes trial and Russia might not be forced to pay reparations. They are too far apart to even start anything meaningful.
