You should have asked him what he meant by "everything depends on how much support we receive from the West" because I can tell you that he has something very specific in mind that is urgently needed and our leaders are not supplying: armored vehicles (IFVs & battle tanks) and aircraft. Citizens of Western democracies should pressure our leaders to supply these things, because THAT is how we avoid escalation. If we don't give the UA what it needs to succeed on the battlefield, we will have to do the fighting for them. That's what misguided, confused timid indecisiveness produces. "Western" reporters are still milking the reputations earned by those long past, they are now mostly as inept as the Russian army, sadly. Journalism died with the birth of infotainment, now little more than a vapid string of chorus dancers merely mimicking each other. They do still trip over relevant stories now and again, but they can neither understand them nor convey them past the level of a 9 year old. It shouldn't be true, but it is.
