PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST KNOWN BANDS IN THIS GENRE OF MUSIC IN WESTERN CANADA AND ONE OF MY FAVORITE DANCE BANDS WERE THE INTERLAKE POLKA KINGS. I HAD THE PLEASURE OF SEEING THEM PERFORM LIVE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE EARLY 70'S IN ITUNA SASKATCHEWAN AND THEY JUST RELEASED THIS ALBUM(THIS WAS THE EXACT BAND THAT I SEEN IN ITUNA -LIVE) AND I WILL FEATURE SELECTIONS FROM THIS CD ONLY FOR THIS PRESENTATION. 4 MEMBERS OF THE WOLOSHYN FAMILY ARE ON THIS RECORD.BILL,MARY,PETER AND CARL ARE ALL ON THIS ALBUM ALONG WITH VIOLINIST CARL PLOHMAN. THE SELECTIONS ARE: THE POLITICIAN,HOTEL GIRLS,MEMORIES OF MY SISTER, TAKING THE HORSES TO PASTURE AND CARLS WALTZ.AS THE INTERLAKE POLKA KINGS RECORDED MANY,MANY FINE ALBUMS I WILL DO MORE OF THEM AS TIME GOES ON. I HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY IT. IT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE ALBUMS IN MY MUSICAL LIBRARY.

Listening to this music this morning with tears flowing. Just incredible music!! It's an amazing part of Ukrainian history and culture that we, as children and grandchildren, of Mary and Bill Woloshyn, (The Interlake Polka Kings) will always be grateful for! Thank you for the legendary music that will continue to play throughout Canada and the world. Their music in unmistakable, when you hear it play you know you are listening to the Interlake Polka Kings. Thank you Mom and Dad (Baba and Gyd) for this beautiful gift of your music. We miss you every day and when the music plays we can picture you playing and it brings a smile to our face and a tear to our eye always! Thank you to PolkaDon for keeping their music alive. We appreciate it more than you know!

Thanks ever so much for your kind and heartfelt words. They were my favourite band growing up and still are today..I am nearing the end of this huge project and am glad that some of the families are appreciative of the large amount of work that I put into this..The reason being is that if this great music is not put into todays social media it may be lost or even worse forgotten.. I only met Carl and Peter when they played in Elphinstone, Manitoba way back in the 70's . A night I will never forget as the whole band stayed in my hotel in Elphinstone.I have not met any other family members as of yet.. Please feel free to email me directly to Polkadon@gmail.com if there was anything else you or your family needs. Take good care.. Stay Safe..and again Thank You!

I danced to a lot of Ukrainian Music growing up in the 70- 80's, CFCW Radio devoted 1 hr to this ethnic group. I also grew up with them; loved, hated, fought, f_ _ _ _ _, worked but more so ate their food, finally marrying a 3/4 Ukrainian Girl. A wonderful mix, our babies are beautiful, some blue/green eyes like algae, many people ask my Partner, what Nationality the babies are, as 4 me, am 100% Cree. But, they went thru a lot of Racism from the Cree because of looks, can't win eh?

Коломийки .. "..Коли хочеш в швіт сі взєти,мусиш знайти як вродити.. чи то право,чи то вліво, коли крутиш хоч ти сміло. Хто крутити добре вміє,тому добре сонце світи..

Isn't this form of music -- the first selection -- a kolomeyka?

Thanks for your inquiry. If you check the text of each posting It has a song list in the description. No it is not a kolomayka but rather a fast polka... Have a great Day..

Sounds like Polish music. Specifically like Krakowiak.

There isn't any selection in that video that sounds remotely close to Krakowiak.

Growing up in a small Ukrainian community in Boston, I really appreciated the large Ukrainian heritage to the North of us. I’m amazed how many people in Western Canada are Ukrainian. Hello from Montana. Слава Україна!
