Ukrainian forces attack Russian trenches near Bakhmut forcing Russians to flee from positions

This footage released by the 3rd Assault Brigade of Ukraine reportedly shows troops from the 1st Assault and 1st Mechanised Battalions attacking a Russian trench near Bakhmut.
Two tanks charge towards the trench allowing Ukrainain forces to follow and attack the Russian positions within the woodland area.
This footage has not ben verified by The Sun.

The attacking Ukrainian tank with an over watch tank covering fire on the flank on the wood line side. The Ukrainian Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) providing firing cover for disembarking troops from the IFV and Armored Protection Vehicle (APC). After Ukrainian troops penetrate the wood line the IFV provides covering fire for the leaving APC. The IFV and APC take a position away from the attack point and are ready to move back if needed. The dismounted troops call for the IFV and APC after the mission is completed. The APC with the IFV covering the flank of the APC reaches the rendezvous point as the troops enter the APC and IFV; textbook NATO battle tactics.

If you’re a Russian mobilized civilian soldier fighting in a war and being paid low wages, while the Putin’s cronies’ armies are paid more and stand to profit from looting Ukraine’s resources, it make sense that the mobilized civilian soldiers are just “Cannon Fodder” with little training.

@@him5695 Unless they've surrendered or are wounded and not actively participating in action against Ukraine, they can be targeted. Just because someone is moving doesn't mean much, as they can be repositioning to take up the fight again. Both Russia and Ukraine are signatories to the Geneva Conventions. Both have broken certain tenant of those conventions. Where it's more of a grey area, is under humanitarian law, if someone has laid down their arms, and has no means of defence, you're not supposed to shoot them. Good luck figuring out if someone has a weapon while they're running from place to place. A grenade fits in a pocket, and a pistol can be concealed. At that point, it's up to the individual to make the call. Again, if they're not surrendering, and you know they'll be fighting again, I'd lean toward the safety of my unit and country. War isn't fair, and in fact, you put in a lot of effort to ensure it's never fair for those you face.

It probably is a Dutch YPR-765. The Dutch Armed forces still had some 800 in storage. In april there were a confirmed 196 delivered to ukraine. The YPR-765 is a Dutch derivative of the M113, so confusing them is understandable.

These guys are well trained. They are conducting small armed recon activities sounding out the level and depth of defences. While at the same time giving news troops experience on the battle field. Lets say on the job training. This type of activity appears to be happening all along the front line. No real penetration is taking place. Just small probing attacks that degrade the Russians ability to defend. Along with the disruption of stores and ammunition supplies this is going to degrade Russias ability to fight. The big problem is that Wagner has been withdrawn. And for certain they will be being developed now into an armoured fighting reserve and will be thrown headlong into the path of any counter attack as it emerges. The Ukrainians will have to start a push, a feint that will be convincing enough to have the wagner deployed to it. The real counter attack can then go in, while the wagners are fixed in place at another pont. What is for sure this next fight is going to be bloody for both sides. But I dread to think of what the Russian losses will be. They are going to be slaughtered

Yes , they are well trained! But they are selecting (cherry picking) their attacks, (as they should) They scout these targets with drone, count the defenders, check what they do during their time there, they know when they are circulating troops etc… Then they attack hard, most of the time there are only a few Russians in those positions, they have no flanking protection either… That is because this is not the Russian line of defence! These are forward observation posts… They are supposed to get a early warning and slow down the attacker a bit so the arty can fire. Orders are to fall back as soon as possible, thats why we see what we see here! It is textbook ”defense in depth” that we see the Russians performing here…
