It is commonly known as the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, the 30-Kilometre Zone, or simply The Zone. Access to the zone is restricted . You need a permit to go in there, it’s not dangerous to visit the zone for a limited time . But you can’t live there . And you need a dosimeter to check for radiation. So these guys are outside the zone , they are safe .

This is like watching the pee wees suit up for practice against an NFL team. If Russia wants to occupy Ukraine, they will easily. What they need to be doing is drawing up plans for a very long, drawn out insurgency, (which will be very well funded/supplied by the west) as that is thier singular chance at beating back Russia. Attrition is the only tactic for a vastly inferior force, which Russia and US are very familiar with. A la Afghanistan, Vietnam.

While I fully agree to insurgency being the most effective option, they also need to have some level of standard forces for the initial pushback. Even though this was a couple years ago, you can see how effective the Georgian Army was for how ill-equipped and Ill trained they were compared to the Russians in 2008.
