@@tobiasrietveld3819 I'm skeptical that it will go back very far... The current drones are just commercial drones with little customisation. Wait until the terminal guidance is autonomous, without relying on GPS or a control uplink. Inertial and thermal / visual... That and even rudimentary swarming behavior seems like it will be difficult to counter. Obviously there will be countermeasures, but when you're in a tank with a dozen autonomous drones all converging on you with rpg/mortar payloads... well I wouldn't want to be in that tank... Interesting times ahead...

Russia will lose its ability to refine petrol long before they lose 2 million soldiers. Since that campaign against oil refineries and key logistics depots began in January, Russia has lost nearly a quarter of its refining capacity. They have already been importing refined fuel from Belarus & Kazakhstan since at least April. Russia doesn't make the equipment to repair/replace those distillation towers (and neither does China) - they are entirely dependent on the West for that tech. My guess is that by year's end, Russia will have lost close to half of their refining capacity, because they don't have an answer for those attacks. Meanwhile, inflation inside Russia is already spiraling, over 8% currently - factor in higher gasoline & diesel prices that will not only drastically affect consumers, but also the agricultural sector come harvest time this fall (and spring planting), and life is about to get very, very expensive inside Russia. Would not be surprised to see 15% or higher inflation take hold.

Not a chemist, but given that refining petroleum is over 100 years old, seems like something low tech could be cobbled together... Might not be as efficient as a modern refinery, but if all you really need is to crack out a bunch of diesel... is it really that difficult?

With russia now claiming the longest air to air kill at 200Km then add to this its significant SAM resources, obsolote garbage like an F16 will not last very long at all. At the beginning of this war Ukraine had 300+ planes and a lot of them significantly better than an obsolete F16. I guess they will be as good as all the game changing weapons that have massively failed. Might want to check a bit mate on reality.

Absolutely spot on, as well as link-16 interconnects to armor donated by Allied nations and, the big one, direct interconnect of targeting data streams from clandestine Allied airborne recon assets. E3's, Growlers, Argus, E7's, Rivet Joints, P8's. All of them can funnel targeting data to the Ukrainian F16's and ALL of them are in-theater or near-theater. Essentially acting as an airborne over the horizon radar system for Ukraine. "F16's aren't going to be a game-changer....." but will they not?? I have my beliefs that they absolutely will be.

The French had Hanoi and Saigon, and the Americans had Saigon in Vietnam. The Soviets, and later, the US/Coalition had Kabul in Afghanistan. Though I think it would have worked in your example, because in WW2 Britain hadn't had enough time to prepare and arm up society by the time the Blitz began, less than a year into the war. North Korean rocket launcher? Really? #1 The Bulsae-4 is an anti-tank *missile* launcher. There's a big difference between a rocket and missile and a defence editor should know that and not get that confused or use the words interchangeably. #2 The Bulsae-4 has an estimated range of 10-25 km and was located in Belgorad. Fine, we'll accept that. 3:30 shows the AS-90 which has been geolocated at *48°49'21.3"N 38°00'38.2"E* (48.822566, 38.010565) which is over 200 km from Belgorad. You can see the roads, tree lines, and building are a match so the geolocation is correct. How did a missile system with a 25 km range hit a target over 200 km away? Hint: It didn't. Jerome Starkey, do you even bother to fact check your stories? You should be embarrassed that a high school kid can figure this stuff out and you can’t.

that footage of the as90 being destroyed is ~5 months old, putin visited north korea in june, prior to his visit only north korea ammunition appeared to be shared. these assumptions that the geolocation being distant from belgorad as if they could not have moved in 5 months is dumb. but the assumption that bulsae-4 have been invisibly spread across the whole frontline for 5 months and not concentrated in the area where they have been spotted recently is even dumber. if these weapons have evaded detection all this time while carrying out strikes then where is the footage of fiber optic lines leading to destroyed ukrainian equipment? retro actively assuming that as90 was destroyed by a bulsae-4 that somehow remained invisible for 5 months rather than a russian or captured ukrainian weapon completely betrays occam's razor. the lack of critical thought on both sides is what is embarrassing. it really highlights how disgusting the russian people are by allowing this war, as russian and ukrainian cultures are so similar and completely interconnected with familial ties. they have such little care for their fellow citizens and family members that they would support a war on one of their own oblasts just as much as ukraine. any russian old enough to have been raised by the ussr should not be able to live with this complete betrayal of their former countrymen. what a vile, fallen society!

Yeah, that explains why Ukraine has less territory now than they did before this US proxy war started. The last time I checked, the side who has taken the most territory is the side that is winning a land war. Ukraine is resorting to conscription, hardly an army of amazing talents & bravery. No amount of slava Ukranies is going to change this fact, my little brainwashed friend.

The radar sensors I believe actually originate from WW1. They didn't have radar but using the sound waves from enemy artillery and delicate sound measuring devices spread along the front line. They'd use these to triangulate the location of where the enemy was firing from/how far away and return fire

General McNaughton, sitting on the crapper timing enemy artillery flashes till their shells made the actual contact with the ground around his biffy, did the math while sitting on the throne and then went out and returned fire , destroying all the enemy artillery.
