Doing this with index value is very smart - Thanks for the tips!

Can Math.round be used so that the slider defaults to a whole number? If so, where would it go in the expression? If not, is there another way to make the actual slider circle functional instead of having to enter a whole number via the keyboard?
@AndrewMarston3 жыл бұрын
Yes it can, great point! When defining the src variable linked to the slider, you would put "src = Math.round(thisComp... )

You might want to use Math.floor() instead. That way it will always round it down and the opacity will be 100 for the full range between one number and the next. If you use Math.round() then the opacity will change at the halfway point. It's still mostly the same effect, but the readability will be a little better.

Hello and thank you so much for the tutorial. I have one question. I am using this technique to toggle on and off layers during the entire duration of a video. Each layer is animated. How can I make it so every time I toggle on a layer's visibility, it plays from the very first keyframe and not from the current one? 🙏

Great stuff, this can be more user friendly by using a drop down menu control so each option has the name of the icons

What did he clicked at 5:23 for this menu?

That's a free plugin called FX Console by Video Copilot. Invaluable for any Ae user. Once installed it allows users to hit a shortcut (Ctrl + Space) in my case and then type to search for the effect or preset they want to add. There's some other functionality as well.

What if I need to duplicate this composition with the lower third and change the icon on it. What I need to do so the icon changes only in the second lower third

Essential properties should be able to accomplish this :-)

I see you haven't setup your 100 YT accounts yet 🤣 Also glad to see that I'm not the only one with a ridiculous addiction to buying plugins.

Haha, I always see a cool new plugin, buy it, try it for 5min, and then never use it again. -.-

Why using a slider when you can use a dropdown menu to know exactly what icon you select?
@AndrewMarston3 жыл бұрын
This is a good idea if you want to take the time to set up the drop down menu.

@@AndrewMarston It's a faster alternative I agree, but it's messy if you have to share the file with other motion designers :)

@@eklor this is a great point that hopefully everyone reading these comments sees. Expression rigs in general can be difficult to decipher for people who didn't make them. If you're working on a team or passing off the project to someone else, it may be worth the time to use a drop-down.

You will get twice the views if you position your webcam in the bottom right of frame. Left is normally where people look.
