Thank you for this great video. I just found your channel yesterday and subscribed. I have also used your links above to purchase the Ukulele Aerobics book on the kindle and the First 50 Songs You Should Play on Ukulele on the kindle as well. I would have loved to purchase The Daily Ukulele but for some crazy reason the kindle version which should be half the price was actually more expensive than the physical book which was already quite costly at $30. So unfortunately I will have to pass on that one. I have been on a wild soul searching musical journey since Thanksgiving of 2022. First I decided to learn piano and bought myself a great digital piano and have been playing that on and off and enjoying it. Then out of the blue during Christmas I got interested in the guitar for the first time in my life, so I bought a few of those and began practicing and having a good time. But something still wasn't just right and I found myself on KZbin exploring other string instruments like Dulcimers, Strumsticks, Mandolins, Banjos and Cigar-Box Guitars. That eventually led me to find the most amazing videos of talented musicians, such as yourself playing the Ukulele with such skill and passion as if they were virtuoso's playing a classical guitar, and I fell in love with the Ukulele right then and there and realized that it was the Ukulele that I have been searching for all this time as my musical voice. Thank you for creating this channel and giving me a place to learn and be a part of a larger community of like minded individuals.

I am a beginner and I ordered the 5O first songs book and the Ukulele Aerobics books . I am sending both back . I really wanted chord/song sheets and the 50 first songs was in a sheet music style. I had a lot of difficulty understanding all of the graphics in the Ukulele Aerobics book as a beginner with only a basic music background . ( I played Trumpet for years in my youth and sang in choir). Amazon will accept my return, so that is O.K. I was hoping for some basic , easy to play songs that will allow me to learn to change chords and boost my confidence. I am a senior learner and thought the Aerobics would help with my finger dexterity and muscle memory, but the book was confusing to me. I think I would learn this better with a visual approach as in an online video. Thanks for the recommendations anyway!

Hi! Yeah, most song books are only going to have the chords above and then the melody line like the 50 first songs. What I might suggest is to check out my let’s play ukulele series and then after you have a bit more of a foundation try the beginner song books again! Here is the link:kzbin.info/aero/PLwnxWorvEThFeC-STYiq0O2S6uFoklH1g is gores off of the idea that you have no pre-existing knowledge but should help!

I'm just starting out with the baritone ukulele. I have no previous music experience so I don't know how to read music, but I can follow along & play if there is tabs. I'm wondering if you know of any books that include tablature or maybe a music book with only tabs but specifically for baritone. Thank you

Yes! There is a baritone version of the daily ukulele. Other than that I’m not sure to be honest. I don’t have as much familiarity with baritone ukulele.

Hi, is ukulele aerobics good for beginners ? I’ve only started playing ukulele in 2021 but I practice everyday 😊

I think it’s good for anyone. The book explains things in a way that you don’t need a ton of background, it will definitely challenge you but I think it’s doable for sure!

Hi Cory. Thanks a lot for these recommendations. I am taking my uke "training" more seriously, and learning more music theory language is helpful for other instruments too (I've playing guitar for 10 years and I am considering piano). Some of the books you named are in my list, since I checked the Hal Leonard site. I will definitely buy "Ukulele aerobics" ( and the guitar version too someday). Alfred's Essentials also cought my eye 😁 I wonder if you have read or know something about "Robert Johnson for ukulele" or "Blues ukulele method" books, and if they are worth it. I am very interested in jazz and blues, so my learning is pretty oriented to those genres, and also fingerstyle. I also found a book called "Jazzing up the ukulele" by Fred Sokolow, do you know something about it? There is also a book called "20 progressive fingerstyle studied for uke" by Rob MacKillop that seems interesting. There are a lot of interesting books for sure... I am glad, it ensures endless fun 😂 Thank you again for your content. I will subscribe to your channel. Hugs from Spain!

I'm still getting used to reading music for ukulele and I got "The Daily Ukulele" There are so many older style songs I've never heard of. I find I keep running into the problem where there's a Low B that I can't play on my Ukulele. So, according to some things I found online, I have to just play the chord versions, transpose the whole song or tune my ukulele differently. Any tips, suggestions thoughts? (Also it's not that good at being folded in half. It's fine being opened normally, but if you want to just look at on page it can be difficult with the weird thick plastic part on the binding.)
@CoryTeachesMusic3 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure what you mean by the Low B. Can you give an example in the book that you are running into this issue?
@GarrettEderer3 жыл бұрын
@@CoryTeachesMusic Hey thanks for taking your time. I'll try to find a couple of examples. 1. pg 14 After You've Gone, 2. Pg.20 All of me (the third note) and Pg 23. America, the Beautiful. The notes: D, D, B, B, D, D, A, A It says the first note is a D on the 2nd sting down. If I play that as the first note than the lowest I can go is to an open string of C. Does that make sense?
@GarrettEderer3 жыл бұрын
@@CoryTeachesMusic Ahh Okay. It seems the book explains it on page 9 about tuning differently, or changing the key.
@CoryTeachesMusic3 жыл бұрын
I see. Yeah, you can get a low G added (I’ll actually be doing this soon for one of my tenors-I’ll make a video for it) to get a wider range. With that string you can pick out I think most/any of the melodies in the book, but also the book is more so for singing the melodies as you provide strummed accompaniment.

Don’t play the ukulele. Just play guitar, the truly versatile instrument. If you are already spending time on learning ukulele, why not just learn something that’s almost objectively better.
