the tone is so full and resonant you can almost hear cello and violin haunting the room.

I think if I had just picked up a Uke for the first time and saw this I would be inspired, but since I have been playing mine for 3 or 4 years now I think I will give up. Haha. Beautifully played.

+Ryan M Hey Ryan, I'm so glad you enjoyed this solo...it was one of the first videos I ever made...on a little flip cam ;) I am trying to create a tablature for this, but it's very tricky to notate what one does years ago...I'll give it a go - would love to include it in my chord solo book. Keep on playing (not that I think you've given up!) -- what I've found most helpful in studying music is....play only ONE sound a time...listen deeply...get inside of one chord progression at a time...squeeze as much as you can from each thing you learn...go deep into the details & you will learn more than trying o do more than one thing at a time. "Dig one well - collect more rain" - African Proverb. Happy playing...Wishing you well, Stu

Love that this popped up in my feed. Wanting to learn this song was how I came upon Ukulele Zen in the first place. Sweet little synchronicity.

I love those harmonics Stu. Clear as a bell, even on the 5th fret.

Great rendition of this beautiful song. Hey Stu, is there any lesson about your technique at 2:43-2:48? Do you keep your fingernails long?
@UkuleleZen10 жыл бұрын
Thanks :-) I do keep my nails long, but not SUPER long. I keep them in the manner that a classical guitarist would (that's where I started my solo string journey). The technique you're enjoying is called "tremolo". For bowed instruments it means the rapid alternation of the bow across the string to get a sustained effect. For guitar/uke it is a means of creating the illusion of two instruments being played at the same time. There is a "bass line" and a sustained melody on top...someday I will do a tutorial on this, but it is pretty advanced stuff, so I may have to create 1-3 videos on it. Happy playing! -Stu
