Awesome lesson, and playalong Stuart. Chuck Berry would have been proud of the fantastic way you have paid homage to his classic number. Have a great day and God Bless.

I started playing the uke 6 months ago. I thought this lesson was way over my ability level but I kept plugging away at it. I finally mastered the piano solo, it took about 2 weeks but it's done and fun to play. Thanks for a great lesson of a classic Chuck.

Hi I'm Bob Harris in South Wales in the UK. I've been knocking myself out for the last 2 years trying to get to grips with the guitar. After those 2 years I am no nearer stopping my fingers touching the string next to the one I need to play! The C chord seems almost impossible! Anyway I changed to a Uke, thank goodness I did, I can now play chords at last! Can I say that your site and your presentations are fantastic, thank you so much you have taught me so much. You sir are an inspiration!

Hey Bob, thanks for writing… where do you find these lessons helpful and I hope that you’ll subscribe for more videos. Lightning up the touch on the left hand is one of the most difficult things to do… It’s easy to describe with words but it’s a feeling that I try to lead people into in my lessons… It’s a touch that and I’ll keep emphasizing it in every video because it’s just so darn important to lighten up our touch. Focus on the fretting hand thumb being really soft curl the fingers and just push as little as you need to… Wishing you well I hope to visit south wales some day I’ve heard it’s lovely!!

@@UkuleleZen Hi again Stu...Many thanks for your reply, for you to take the time means a lot. I'm getting my 69 yr old brain and fingers around 'You never can tell'. It's getting there but I'm in too much of a rush. I grew up in the 50's & 60's, fantastic musical era. Be great to see you in South Wales. When God created the world he realised his mistakes and then he made Wales! Regards.

Thank you for visiting Bellingham WA! I was so thrilled to see that my fav youtube teacher was in my home town! I played your Kansas City arrangement at an open mic two days ago and crashed and burned hard. My first experience playing the 12 bar blues with walking notes and the flourishes and the turnaround and my mind went flat. Anyhow, rather to have tried and failed than played something easier. Thank you for all that you do. You might just make a musician out of me someday. Haha.
@UkuleleZen7 жыл бұрын
Hi Penn, I wish that you had attended my session at B.U.G. (Bellingham Ukulele Group)...I may be back in September of 2018... That Kansas City riff is tricky - so HATS OFF TO YOU for trying it in person! No worries...all it means is the riff just needs to be more internalized...go very sow as you practice...see if you can play it accurately at a slow speed while staying in "the flow"...when you can do this, turn up the speed. Memorize it & after some time f repeating this process, you'll find that you'll be able to access the internalized riff ("vocabulary") with greater & greater ease. Thanks for watching & wishing you well!
@PennMiniken7 жыл бұрын
I was at your BUG workshop. LOVED IT. The teaching was fun and your Beatles Medley was mind blowing. I am playing the riff a number of times each day to do just what you said, transfer that song/style from explicit behavior to implicit ability. Looking forward to it be part of my 'vocabulary'. Thanks again!

Another song that I've been doing for years that only requires two chords; "Feeling Alright", C7 and F7... and I usually do it as a mash up with "You Can't Always Get What You Want", (although that does introduce a two additional chords, ((the ii and the V)) into the mix... LOL). Lot's of fun doing that one, and I just started working it out on my concert ukulele, and will also be learning it on my baritone ukulele. I'm Such a newbie on ukulele the chord shifts are clunky but with practice I'll smooth it out and it will be in my new ukulele repertoire. Thanks for the lessons, Cheers!

Great video. I must have missed something, what's the G7 for on the tab sheet?
@UkuleleZen7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! G & G7 are interchangeable...both serve the function of "dominant" chord in the Key of C. The G7 is a more colorful chord since it has the 7th added. I offer both chords because if you change from G to G7, you'll hear a more colorful sound - adding more tension to the progression which resolves to C. Hope this helps! Please subscribe for more videos & goodies...jam along :). All the best, Stu

Well, you could sustain the note for just four beats....and then "play" the rests. In the video I just play the tremolo notes once and then count - I wanted to make the solo as clear as possible. The tremolo is like icing on the cake - gotta have the cake baked first ;)
