This thing yokuthwebula idlozi it has always been there. Ask yourself why was it important for abantu wena when growing up you thought they were just distance relatives to be present if there were ceremonies, even if it's one person ozomela abaleyondlu (usually referred to as "they are here on behalf of umkhulu so and so" ). Families kudala use to practice such but they wouldn't call it ukuthwebula but umkhuba walelo khaya. Also to note, ur family start from all the kid's zikakhokho wakho (great grand father) and gravitate down to you. Remember when you talk to idlozi you mention his name, you start by him. The problem started when people started working in different provinces for example and end up settling there and his or her family (intermediate) then regards where their father or umkhulu comes from as just relatives, when they do things they only focus on only them. And the other families do the same thing on their side as well. Now you have 5 - 8 families who have a common ancestor (great grand father) who are nowhere near practices that he left for his household....
