Incredible amount of work. Being a disabled veteran with little use of my arm, I am impressed by people who have both the time and patience to spend a thousand hours on a project like this. They do save at least 50% I believe.

Hey there from Central Wyoming! I wanted to thank you so very much for providing an absolutely outstanding video in the how to category! I hope you do a complete series of these because quite frankly your presentation is the clearest, the most logical, and the most comprehensive, for someone who has not yet bit the bullet and delved into building a kit aircraft, or selecting an engine. Previous videos that I've seen, and I'm talkin several hundreds, have been nowhere is clear is your video is! Far too often the work seems so complex, and so convoluted, but it just makes me want to grab a fifth of dark rum pop the Cork and just start drinking! The two engine manufacturers that I have narrowed my search down to, is UL and Aero Momentum, the arrow momentum seems to be in the lead so far, because of initial cost and rebuild cost at TBO time! The Edge that your model engine has, is the fact that it is air-cooled; no pesky cooling jackets and conduits, no extra weight for radiator and all the coolant, and none of the extra sensors and wiring. aircraft model manufacturers the top three chip manufacturers are zenith, the PSA Merlin out of Florida, and the Chipper aircraft; however the last one is problematic because of a lengthy build time and a lack of aircraft in the air. Thank you again for your time and I wanted to let you know that I have subscribed and hit the little bell so that I get notifications of your new postings. Take Care and I look forward to seeing new videos

If you have not done it already , save yourself a lot of grief later by pulling the exhaust pipe flange bolts on the cylinder head and put high temp anti seize compound on the bolt threads..........pull them out one at a time , lube them and retorque each one before going to the next bolt.........the bolts will seize themselves in good without anti seize on them..........the stainless braided lines in your fuel system , are Teflon tubing inside the braid...........I am pretty sure they need fire sleeve on them as well , but a phone call would clear that up..........nice tidy installation you have done.........looks great..

That is one beautiful engine...and kudos to your cable management and organization. I had never considered a UL engine but after seeing this video, am considering it as opposed to Rotax. Well done!

Hi Mark, thanks for the tour. Just a word about the Ground, at the ECU top left vibration mount, firewall side. It could use its own isolated clean "bolt to firewall" connection. As it is now, it only has one good contact face, due to the rubber overcast on those isolators. Looking great, keep up the good work.

Hi, great video! What battery are you using for the ul350is ? Do you have video of your baffling set up? I just bought a newly finnished Zenith 750. It needs some tweaks still. I have the ul350is too. Mine has the mgl efis system....

Great video, I. learned so much so quickly - great filming, narrative, technical vocabulary! A quick question: are you still quite pleased with the UAL 350 engine? Any issues? Thanks!

The UL Power has been fantastic. The only issue I had was a cracked exhaust pipe, and every once in a while the #3 CHT probe goes haywire. No other issues. It runs very smooth.

@@KitplaneEnthusiast Very gracious of you to reply in this detailed way. I ask because I'm looking at a slightly used 750 with the 530iS (83 hrs) here in Brazil. When the #3 CHT shows up on your monitor, what do you do? Get a new sensor/probe? Again, I ask because of the possible challenges of getting ULP parts here. Also, opted to not get a ULP in your 750 SD - biggest reason? Simplicity out in the boonies?

This seems like such a better option compared to the rotax 912. I just like how UL power has put this package together, but I have yet to price one, so that might change my opinion on what I would eventually use.

It's great that we got some new engines on the ultralight scene, like UL Power and D.Motor. I would very much like to see an ultralight helicopter fitted with twin D-Motor LF26 engines. Guimbal Cabri G2 would be a killer with twin LF26...it would likely be one of the safest helicopters on this planet...big commercial turbine helicopters included.

an ammeter is probably very handy to have on an aircraft, mostly because even the most ambitious homebuilder probably doesn’t fly every single day and charging issues can crop up easily. The meter gives you a built-in diagnostics tool to figure out if you have a draw and also a quick reminder as you’re shutting everything down to check the gauge and if there’s more than whatever your minimum draw should be you know you have something still on that shouldn’t be.

Hey Mark. I've noticed UL Power installs on Zenith 750s, the engine mounts quite far forward away from the firewall. There is almost enough space there to install another engine :). I figured it was for CG, but your UL Power is about the same weight as a Rotax 912, and ~30lbs lighter than an O-200/235, which mount much closer to the firewall. Any idea why they sit the UL Power so far forward on the Zenith 750?

Having it farther would also reduce the cabin noise I guess among other things, so not a bad thing.

With your oil pressure sensor, did you bleed the air out of the remote oil line?

Mark, Do you use any type of "locktite" on the nuts and bolts that don't have a locking type nut? Like all the little nuts and bolts used to mount all the little hose/wire clamps you have in your engine compartment. Thanks

There are actually FI systems which don't have return lines, they just use the pump to control the fuel pressure.

Mark, could someone with no experience install the 350iS engine with the use of the Homebuilt Help Video? I know it would be foolish doing an install and then flying without an approval from and AP, but could it be done?
@MannyCamRS
@MannyCamRS 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the quick reply, Mark. I have researched a lot of kit planes (experimental) and a couple of manufacturers stand above the rest, Zenith being one. The common theme among most companies is the ease in which these kits can be assembled. Unfortunately, most of these companies lack information on the ease or difficulty on engine installs. Your video's do a great job of showing how a professional install should look like. I hope to find more video's explaining this issue and if I find it to be too daunting, maybe I'll just have it installed by a professional. Thanks again and continued success.

A water cooled inline 6 cylinder would be a much better engine. Too many wires and pipes going everywhere. This style of engine is out of date.
