I have a similar issue with Ulalek. If I were to cast it on curve without following it up with a spell, I’m simply asking for it to be removed. On the other hand, it is too mana-hungry & too slow to do it all in a single turn e.g. 10 mana in total to cast Ulalek + cast & copy a 3-drop, while opponents are already building towards their endgame.
@tribalkai7 ай бұрын
This is exactly the problem with Ulalek. It’s a fun Commander but it’s for very slow kitchen table games.
@flyingby37037 ай бұрын
In my last game with ulalek, I was about to lose to commander damage, but I managed to copy an eldrazi conscription, put both on ulalek and defeat my opponent with commander damage in one hit. Its something to look out for if you draw into it.

2:57 its that you search first, and depending on that your opponents get to choose, that people say they are gone tutor is like information you actually should not have at that point.

Yeah that makes sense. So they get to see the card first.
@mattaconda777 ай бұрын
It’s a super powerful commander. You basically have to keep it removed 100% of the time. Using all your resources on removal slows down building your own board state and then by that time the eldrazi player has enough mana to just slam down huge threats turn after turn. Basically everyone needs team up to remove the eldrazi player to have any chance.

I think you're overestimating it's capabilities a bit. It's slow, no two ways around that

The MH3 Eldrazi are the first time I've seen online players legitimately evaluate threats correctly. The Eldrazi player eats every bit damage and removal, then usually complains that their linear deck is shut down. While it makes zero sense for Voja, Sauron, and Miirym to have Ward 3, I am very glad WotC didn't torture us with Eldrazi that also protected themselves. 😂

It's a shame it is so hated as it is a very powerful commander. Great gameplay as usual.
@mattaconda777 ай бұрын
Maybe eldrazi would be better played with a weaker commander (or partners) just to create time to ramp before people realized what they were actually playing. Running under the radar for a few turns works pretty well in my exp

Yeah having lesser feared commanders is definitely a good strategy. The new Teysa and the new Karlov are good examples of this.

Ulalek seems to just be a lightning rod for removal. For obvious reasons. It that’s less removal for the titans at least.

Agreed on the Tooth & Nail being on the list , but honestly the commander committee is super slow to ban anything. If they decided to get up to date and ban any "unfun or 1 card eazy win setup" they have so much work ahead of them. Iona was the last "old" card to be banned for gameplay reasons. Last ban I recall was the poor Legendary Otter, because ... "oh no companion that can be included in any izzet deck!". That was otterly ridiculous. Of course you may "rule 0" things in and things out, but not so much online or with strangers / unfamiliar pods. Anyways, GG.

Hi, I won this game. I realized a few days later that I remembered your name as I've seen your videos. I am dissapointed though that you put Zilrotha as the commander and not Godzilla. As it is specifically a Godzilla deck, not Zilrotha. :P Regarding Tooth and Nail - it's hard to say how I feel about it. Obviously, I don't run 2 card combos in my deck or you would have seen it. I just instead put out some powerful creatures. I would argue that I don't like any combos that take less than like 4 cards to make. I would want anything like that banned however, unless they ban all two card combos - I feel like it's a bit jaded to want Tooth and Nail banned. It is 9 mana after all. Most decks with 9 mana to burn can already do a 2 card combo, or have more efficiently tutored/drawn into their combo. The actual issue will never be completely banned. So then I think it comes down to certain deck colors being able to efficently 2 card combo over others. I think it ultimately goes down to deck building and if you wanna play CEDH or casual. With how power crept Comamnder is in 2024, I generally just want to make themed decks anymore. As if you want to make a broken deck, you can make a broken deck.

Ban list could be reviewed, however it's made clear it's not about power of cards, it's about un fun and un accessible cards, for the most part. We all hate eldrazis, not sure what wotc is thinking with these designs... Lots of kids might get bullied for this stuff
@tribalkai7 ай бұрын
You’re not speaking for everyone. I don’t hate Eldrazi. And what’s un-fun and in-accessible is subjective. Players have varying amounts of money and time to play. What you find annoying someone else can find fun. I don’t think there’s any evidence to show your claim is true here.
