Amazing review! For those experiencing a super bright or harsh white flash, consider diffusing the light using the "NEEWER Translucent Flash Diffuser Light Softbox (5x4 inches)."

Great video man!! I was looking for a review on this flash and this was the only one that has shown up. At my college the digital camera trend has been going crazy like with the canon g7x, however I have my canon r8 with a pancake lens and wanna put on this flash to have a portable beast setup! 😎

You need to learn the exposure triangle for these flashes. The camera has no idea you have connected the flash. It’s a very basic flash so no communication between the flash and camera. So you have to learn how much power the flash needs. What shutter speed you should be at. And the proper iso. It sounds daunting but with practice you will eventually get it. There are some fantastic tutorials on this. Otherwise look for a flash that is specifically TTL for your camera brand. And if you’re going out in harsh light you need TTL and high speed sync.

Good flash. Bought it. What is the use of the Auto mode? It then flashes continuously at 100% power. That is not automatic. Then adjusting from 0 to 100% is a lie. There is absolutely no visible difference between, for example, 1 and 10% or 5 and 10%. In other words, the volumes are 10, 20, 30, etc. Because you have to go there in steps of 1%, the adjustment takes unnecessarily long. Another problem is that you cannot see how much energy is left in your flash. Quite annoying because you cannot change batteries when it is empty. Despite this, it does get a permanent place in my (travel) camera bag.

Is this good
@RobterdammerАй бұрын
@@verdict504gd3 yes, I have 2 of them. But the automatic button could be removed and a slider or touch button from 1 to 10 would be better for controlling the flash intensity. As a fill-in flash you can make a whole wedding report with it. No lugging around with big weight. Especially because I use the flash with a trigger on a monopod.

Can you also use it as an external flash? You mean to be able to trigger it with a trigger mounted on the camera?

I have this flash and it’s disappointing. It’s powerful enough but it’s too long. You knock your head against it when you put your head to the viewfinder. I’m old school to do proper framing you need to use the viewfinder unless it’s in an unusual position where you need the screen. And for street photography it’s so slow to change the power settings instead of a dial on the top. But it does feel like a quality product. And finally why add the annoying auto setting I kept hitting instead of power when it really doesn’t do anything except give you full power. I don’t see anywhere a place for it to read the light to give you different power light levels to have an auto mode. All in all a big failure of a flash for my use.

Is the form factor, especially in combination with the built-in battery, not more a limitation then a benefit? because the flash form is fixed and cannot bend, despite it's small overall size, it has a gianz depth to it - much more than than a "normal" flash, isn't it? And because you cannot remove the battery, you always have to keep it in your cabin luggage and can't check it in, when travelling - making the unpractical form factor even more of an argument. And that for a flash that only offers X12? What are your thoughts on this?
