Love of freedom is the motivation. Power and money is what has got us here. The entire country's approval and gratitude should be the prize. It's something the moneyed elected and unelected can never aspire to have.

Andy, you're doing a grand job of explaining to Londoners how to comply with ULEZ on behalf of Sadiq Khan, saving him the job, and deflecting drivers' ire away from him and the government. Sadiq is very grateful to you, for sure. As for reports of "bladerunners" cutting down cameras, if true, it's unlikely to make any difference. The cameras will just be replaced or the cut cables reconnected. Now since only about 10% of cars on London's roads are immediately affected by ULEZ, the revolt you characterise as imminent, is hardly going to occur. At most you're giving false hope to impacted drivers, while in reality the charge will not be revoked. That's because the 90% of drivers of currently compliant cars are not likely to raise a ruckus while they remain unaffected. As for the "Trojan Horse," a better analogy would be the "thin end of the wedge." That is to say, once the ULEZ expansion has become established, it's virtually certain fines will be applied by degrees to all others vehicles, including electric, probably on a per mile basis. And then, logic suggests, the same strategy of fines would be extended to limit other carbon consuming activities such as washing machine usage, numbers of showers, degrees of heating the home, etc.,. All of which may or may not be needed to "save the environment" or be a good policy for raising taxes from Londoners. But the point is that none of this is being debated. Rather ULEZ and these other "carbon saving" measures are implemented by stealthy degrees: the frog is in the pot, and the temperature is increased imperceptibly until completely cooked. If you're seriously against ULEZ, then you'll need to make a more persuasive argument to alert Londoners as to reasons they might wish to oppose it, and then hope they're not all watching Netflix as you make it. Good luck with that...
