The year was 1956. I was 6 years old. Heard this record in my aunt's house. Latter on, my aunt and I bumped into each other and I read out ' ... Dil torne todne wale dekh k chal...". Entire family had a good laugh.

No, I was not in Jalandhar, but it used to play in our Oriya neighbours house in Himmatguri, Siliguri. AIR - unlikely to play it, as it was post partition song. Our Oriya neighbours (the one's who had a white Fiat car), they had a record player - and the wife used to constantly play it in the evenings.

Mere dost Mastkalandr, yeh kya karishma kiya apne? Mera bachpan mujhe lauta diya! I was a mere 6 year old lad when this song used to be played on the radio. I don't know if it was Radio Ceylon or Radio Pakistan. But what I distinctly remember is my father and mother singing along with Iqbal Bano and praising her voice. Bachpan ke din bhi kya din the, hai hai..... Mere ankhon me aaso bhar aaye, mere dost.
