love this tent. i take it out when i know it's going to rain a lot and i can set it up like you but with the half insert on the right side and then use the left side to setup my chair and hang out dry and comfortable. but keep the sleeping area separate. great video thank you.

I have winter camped with my HMG UltaMid 2 and it works well enough. However the HB Nallo 2 vestibule is MUCH nicer for winter camping and the Nallo is quite sturdy in the wind and snow.

Excellent review. The MSR Front Range is a great, less expensive, very similar option.

Hyviä vinkkejä 👍🏻 Onko noiden kulmien keskinarujen karbiinihakojen mallista tietoa? Näyttää koon puolesta sooivan tuohon erinomaisesti.

Moro, taitavat olla Sea To Summit Accessory Carabinereita nuo. Niitä mulla on aika monessa paikassa käytössä

also which pod size do you use to pack the tent?
@janikatajisto Жыл бұрын
Hi! For the tent + accessories I use the HMG 4400 size Large -pod, and for the half insert I use the 4400 Small.

I do not understand why anyone wants a tent with no floor. It means every bug or insect you're trying to keep from biting you will be in the tent with you. It also means a high probability of water leaking under the tent and getting you wet and bad storms. This is nothing more than a glorified and expensive tarp.

A glorified and expensive tarp? Yes and no... I own the Ultamid 2 and have used it on several multi week treks through the Rocky Mountains under all different kinds of conditions - snow, sleet, freezing rain and hard winds. And the design has been really sturdy. It is awfully expensive when you add the inserts, but I cannot say that I have ever experienced buyer's remorse. I went all in and bought both the single and the double inserts. When going out with my little girl or my wife, I'll break out the double. All other times I have used the single insert. It can be a little bit fiddly, but it has never been inconvenient. As with any tent, you really need to exercise good judgement in where you pitch your shelter. I've used my Ultamid 2 without the insert and slept on a pad on the bare ground while it poured rain outside. As it was late Fall, bugs weren't an issue. (I hate when bugs get into my tent). Rain didn't flood under my shelter and everything stayed dry. I'm a big fan of DCF shelters and I too feel that they absolutely are overpriced. But man do they perform.... The Ultamid2 is a great design (not perfect) and it has held up in ugly enough conditions that I can still wave the smoke off my credit card and still smile.

When camping in a bug free area, you get ore room and can cook on the floor out of the elements. It’s also a lot less to pack. I regularly use my Ultamid 4 without an insert, and use the bug screen if I want insect protection, and or the 2 man insert if I need a bathtub floor in wet areas……
