Man I gotta say that’s one of the best things about those figures. I like more of the Marvel characters but when you include a decent stand with the figure it makes it neck and neck. Just wish McFarlane would branch away from “the Big 3” but that’s a complaint for another day …

For stands, it depends on the figure and the strength of the ankle joint and also how fragile it is. For something like GI Joe Classified or Star Wars Black Series, I have found that Reactions stands work very well. These can also work with Ultimates figures. If I am concerned with the figures not having strong enough ankles , I will also use Plymor Doll stands. The DSP 30 and DSP 4125 are great for MOTU Classics, Ultimates, Mythic Legions, Neca figures ... really, anything that you want to guarantee will remain upright. Some of the later Mythic legions do have some fragile pieces , especially the brute sizes and for those the DSP 4125 are fantastic. Not to plug another company but Collecting Warehouse offers them and the more you purchase, the more they will discount them.

I designed my own articulated 3D printed flight stands. Did it in a modular way so I could increase the height or switch out for better parts. On my end, a roll of filament with a baggie of screws and nuts was much cheaper then buying anyone else stands. I could make them to my specifications as well. I can hold up a mafex, Neca, or a Mcfarlane Bane. Does require a 3D printers, the materials, and either someone willing to provide files or dedicating time to making your own. I use them in conjunction with the risers or I mount them in bookcases, walls, fridges, etc. The foot clamps though are still good to have because sometimes you just want them standing around. The pegs on their own are limited by the strength of the ankle rocker.

It's funny how different people can come up with the same solutions. I'm doing the exact same thing as you and so far, it's been working great. There's something satisfying about being able to print off a couple of new stands whenever you need them. With regards to the peg stands, it's very true about the ankles of the figures being the weakest link. I've 3D printed these too and they work amazingly well. The only time I see one fall is if that particular figure has weak ankles.

I swear it’s so weird to see guys that can’t pose or even make a figure stand and most people have no problem. I just use galvanized wire from home depot. Great for flying, levitating. Even if the figure won’t stand, I can make a standing base out of the wire. So far, wire has been the absolute best, most customizable, and simultaneously cheapest solution for stands. You can add alligator clips with protective rubber over the teeth marks and attach to the wire for winged figures. If you are good about hiding the wire, or dont care about seeing wire, imo, they are the best if you want to pose them in permanent dynamic positions. Since 2015, I have only had 3 falls off my shelf, and they were all figures I had standing without any support. My magneto suspended 10” in the air loaded with accessories, has never ever fallen. Home Depot has 100 ft of 12 gauge 150 lb galvanized wire made by ook. It’s like $9 for 100’. One spool has maintained my shelf for nearly 100 figures. I only really collect jim lee, xmen tas xmen 97 style figures so. I swear by them.

Do the sticky dots leave any residue over time? If not I may go for that. I currently use the dynamic stands from Amazon which seem to be the only ones that hold up heavy Neca figures, and I use magnets in the foot hole on top of metal washers for lighter figures, which works surprisingly well. Also, I remember I asked you about the best figure stands like 3 years ago so this video is many years in the making! Thanks!

I have been using Kaiser 2075 metal doll stands for 6 and 7 inch figures for years and years. Great for static displays and they can be used to brace other figures that may not have stands in case they fall. They are a bit pricey, but they never fail...ever. Plus they prevent domino falls. Perfect for the figures who just will not stand. I will be buying the dots though...thanks for the info.

Another con for Hasbro figures is the inconsistent depth of the foot peg slot. On most MLs it's 2-3mm, but I'm seeing on many Black Series it's only 1-2mm so they don't stay attached to most stands that I'm buying.
@nateschmidt41732 ай бұрын
My favorite (maybe not for space but for dynamic poses and superior stability) are these metal doll figure stands. there's no specific brand but they're hexagonal bases with thick sturdy bendy stands similar to tbleague stands. A bit expensive at 12 to 15 a piece but honestly they're great for flight poses and holding heavier figs (especially in the sixth scale 3zero figs upright as they don't include their own stands)

Hey you listed Museum Wax! It seems to work best on glass surfaces. So if you're using Detolfs you're in better shape than Billys. Those tiny sticky dots are probably the best all around, for sure. Dc collectibles made the best dynamic stands because you could combine them to make different height single pole stands around 3.5feet maximum height for a regular 6 inch figure and lower. Now you can have flyers at all different heights away from the walls to give your dioramas much more depth

Sticky dots don't damage figure paint or shelving?
@mikepowers94862 ай бұрын
I use the foot clamps and the dots the most. The Dots will lose the stickiness over time too. The foot clamps are great minus not being able to put larger feet in them. Especially one with freakish feet like Juri from Street Fighter. Or say the Hulk. Luckily I can stand most my collection without these. The harder ones or for crazier posing, these options are great. Maybe I could use the sticky dots with the foot clamp! Also one issue I have had with both these options is, sometimes the ankle joints are too loose or become loose and they call over at the ankle but still have their foot attached to the spot.

The fact that Hasbro figures don't all come with stands at this point kind of reeks of cheapness, especially as they keep increasing prices.
@willverschneider11022 ай бұрын
I get frustrated with dynamic stands. The joints get loose over time, and I need to screw them tight. The clamps are limited in size and strength, and there are a lot of figures that are too big and bulky to be held in the air. And the plastic in the stands ends up cracking over time, even if the figure is lightweight.

Big Nerdy! Tip to make your own stands for pennies! What you need; plastic lids, Play-Doh, optional; spare guns, robot parts, plastic tree pieces, plastic rock pieces, or small gravel or pebbles 1. Take plastic lid, Pringles like works for average Fufures, bigger lids for larger figures. 2. Use Play-Doh, as deep as you need for the pose you want. Green works pretty good. Play-Doh is cheap. 3. Optional. Decorate with extra guns, robot part, pebbles, whatever you want. Eventually, Play-Doh will dry out and Crack, but it's easy and cheap to replace. I've done it hundreds of times with no problem.

What Museum Wax/Archivists Wax is good for is not getting figures to stand. It good for loosely, lightly and stain free affixing small parts. So if you want to put all those blood slashing and splattering effects on a figure, thats when you use the wax. It's not to withstand earthquakes. It's to tack down stuff like glassware in display cases so normal everyday vibrations don't cause it to move. The benefit to the wax over the funtak for things like blood effects is the wax is pretty much invisible for photography. The downside is the hold is more fragile. I use it alot for putting things in figures hands that are not specifically meant to be held.
@davecarolan12842 ай бұрын
I am totally trying out the sticky dots! An option you may want to take a look at for more dynamic stuff are the wire stands. The are compete customizable and pretty strong. The downside, is you would need to paint them based on your background, and I'm not sure how rounded the figure facing end is. Greg Cook has a DIY video on them. I've also seen others used on either Unparalelled Universe on occasion or D Amazing. My biggest issue is for something like a Batman animated fig. Those tiny ankles can't hold anything.

Some people like that approach, and if it works for them, more power to them. I'd rather just have stands for my figures rather than getting sheets of metal to put on the shelves to magnetically hold them there.
