The single concept of playing back / slow when none of the enemies are making positional mistakes got me from low dia -> mid masters. They will almost always be the first to mess up and then you jump em.

I’ll say one thing I find more useful when fighting a Sombra: if you want to bait hack/play safe, it’s better to punch in and slam out. Slamming out while getting hacked will keep your momentum, and will cover more distance. Also, let’s say you dodge the hack, then you can easily turn midair and slam the whole enemy team, gaining a lot of overhealth. Punching out takes more time, and if u get hacked while charging, u’r dead. Other than that, it’s a very good guide (and I’m opened to discussion if u want :) )

i never usually punch in and slam out because baiting out the hack isn’t usually my main objective when using cd’s, I slam to get aoe on grouped people in their backline, then do a small punch while pressing space bar to get out quickly, its probably less practical on controller, but if you do it quick enough, you can’t get hacked either way, I like to just guarantee the damage, even though it’s probably a lot riskier if ur not quick enough when doing a 180 punch, as long as you press space bar during the punch animation, you won’t lose your momentum if you get hacked, but your strategy definitely is a lot safer, I agree

​​@@sycom- I have to say that the range on dooms slam is pretty sizeable so my preference is to punch in then slam out but don't go to far because you can turn around and still hit most/all of them and punch also does stun which interrupts the enemies and prevents them from attacking/healing giving your team time to deal some damage

ball is one of those characters where you have to rely on your team a lot to deal with him, slam on his mines everytime he ults, you can get empowered from his mines, you can punch him out of the pile drive before he hits the ground on his slams to negate all his damage, you can cancel his grapple with your punch to put him out of position, slamming dooms slam also stops his momentum, play the game normally unless he’s becoming an issue for your backline, just look for big punches with empowered since there’s no tank to deny you from access to their backline

Land on unintended map geometry, overthink the read on movement, overestimate my ability to use it as a get-out-of-jail-free card, etc. I think it has a lot of nuance (and annoying shit) about it that I'd like some tips if you have any

Idk if people will see this but I hv might find something interesting with doom… when u do a stair or head slam and do the « 1shot combo ( stairslam into headshot into punch/melee) » block immediately and cancel ur block for an additional bullet(and a melee if ur close) . I’m Master 1 controller doom I might be fool but this scenario happend a lot.

This might be the guide I've seen for any character. A lot of players that are top 500 have trouble explaining what the character is supposed to be doing and what I'm supposed to be thinking. It's probably because they don't think about it anymore because it comes second nature. But you didn't just give mechanical tips or rollouts or something. Explaining the thought process of of a character is so much more effective for guides

Honestly thanks for this guide. I was a masters doom main in OW when he was a dps. And I took a 3 years break from the game cus I was burnt out playing collegiate. Not fun btw. And I have been wanting to play again but they changed so much it’s a new game. New characters, old characters have new moves, so this guide helped me understand my boy doom. Hopefully I can find the fun in playing this game again.

It’s all mind games tbh, you can try faking the obvious spot by hovering over it, and then doubling back to a weird non optimal spot to catch them by surprise, if you kinda get what I mean or just land high ground, then drop on them with your charged punch

I use 1712x1080, it’s the lowest value you can get before your screen in overwatch becomes too stretched that you’ll see black bars, I recommend using it because ow2 has a reduced hitbox size compared to ow1

Im just picking doom up, and i am having major issues with biting off more than i can chew. I try to flank and get flucked. I try to charge my punch and get burned down before i can shoot the punch off. How do i work on my basics? Im on console, if that matters.

slamming on their whole team gives shields, playing closer to walls instead of in the open to break Line of sight if they melt you helps to not die instantly. Finding the right times to go backline when they are isolated or they used thier cooldowns, plus not staying there for very long, doom relies on aim more than anything else, so you gotta start hitting nearly every shot.

Before you learn doom, I recommend mastering tracer, she teaches every fundamental for all characters. Teaches discipline and cooldown management. Plus, she isn’t team reliant, so don’t expect healing, dying is always at your own fault so every death and mistake is more easily recognized. If people are serious about getting better at ow, the best way to get good fast is learn tracer, everything else comes naturally
