Ultimate Adventure Van? Bailey Adamo 69-4 Motorhome Review and Tour

There are a couple of things in motorhoming which really tick me off.
First is people telling me "you can't wild camp with a motorhome"... 🙄🙄
The second is people telling me that British-built motorhomes are rubbish.
I've had two British-built motorhomes now, and travelled THOUSANDS of miles in them, all around Europe. Sure, there have been a few issues- but any van which does as many miles as mine would need similar maintenance and attention.
So, when Bailey of Bristol asked if I'd like to take their award-winning Adamo 69-4 motorhome on a trial run, I decided to put it to the test. I wanted to take it on a PROPER adventure. Somewhere with mountains, and dodgy roads, and varying temperatures.
Oh, and volcanoes... 😳😬
I borrowed their van for 5 weeks, and in that time drove it over 5,000 miles (thank goodness they didn't charge me mileage!) It was weird living in a different space, but it was also fun to see what I liked- and what I didn't!

We didn't realise about the rear view camera on the 75-4t we borrowed until a viewer pointed out that you can set it so it's on when you're driving.

Enjoyed the vlog. We’ve got the Bailey 69-4 since March and have just returned from 3.5 week trip to France. You can actually set the Visiontrack reversing mirror so that it’s on all the time - it works great - Bob Earnshaw did a short vlog on it. As you say, it doesn’t point straight downwards but luckily my dealer fitted reversing sensors free of charge!!

We’ve had ours almost a year. Lots of long weekends and a week of Easter. All south west of England. A few little niggles but we love it. Two adults. Two dogs. Easy to drive, set up, as you say the washroom facilities, garage drop down bed make it feel spacious and bright inside.

Thank you Bob & Jenny for this very thorough, honest review. I've very much enjoyed it. It's very important to know both the good & the not so good features, what works & what doesn't work so well. It's a veritable minefield of choice of motorhomes & the various layouts & different manufacturer's interpretations. 10 out 10 👍 I agree with your findings, I would like Bailey to fit as standard a better double din head unit with built in sat nav & do away with the extra screen, ditch the awful curtains and fit again as standard remis cab blinds. That tambour style door is badly out of alignment and needs addressing & the waste water arrangement is terrible, as you pointed out who wants to crawl around a grubby motorhome service point floor?

Hi. Excellent video again. A well built and trusted company. We are on our third bailey motorhome and we have went for a rear fixed bed with huge storage underneath. I think the same as you on the rear camera but we can't fault it. Excellent make and Welsh British. Rob and Jane

We filled the Adamo with fresh water from a hose on a campsite using a Whale adapter, plus we used a whale external pump to fill the tank, maybe Bailey didn't provide you with the adapter.

Hi we looked at this particular motorhome model when we were looking to purchase and we loved the layout, but we eventually chose the Chausson 640 it has a much better finish we felt and we have also up graded it 4 ton which has given us a much better payload.

The Bailey 69-4 is one of the vans I've been contemplating purchasing, so thanks for your vlog on this. I'd have to have a lithium battery set up, and I'd have to find out if Bailey could fit a second or bigger solar panel before deciding upon purchasing the van. For me it's either the Bailey, the Rollerhome, or the Adria Compact.

I have the same Bailey, and the reversing camera can be set up as a rear view mirror. You have to pernamently unlock it, i can't remember how it is done, though, as you only have to do it once. Once set up, you need to turn off the auto stop on the dashboard as every time you stop and the engine turns off, the camera goes off as well

If you put it in AV3 the camera stays on when you’re driving. Think it switches off when you stop but just switch it back on and you can use as a rear view mirror when driving.

Hi Kat, on your hanger rail for your clothes, why not use pipe lagging foam tube like what I use, your clothes hanges don't move.

A electric drop down bed is more likely to go wrong compared to a manual drop down bed overall a good looking decent motorhome but German build is better thanks for a excellent video.

Is there not a manual mech to put bed up or down ? Surely there is something we can just use a battery hand drill to put bed up or down just incase no electric left in leisure battery

What I have never found is a british built motorhome with a decent garage large enough for mtb's and paddleboards etc. It seems only the European models cater for adventurous/active motorhome owners. Would be happy to be proved wrong, but it seems UK motorhome "garages" are not much larger than cupboards for deckchairs and tables etc as shown in this model and certainly not wide enough for handlebars even on road bikes .

Hi Kat very energetic blog but you are using a brand new motorhome but I am not a believer in British motorhomes. I own an Elldis 175 which has given me no end of expense and is now in for replacement walls due to damp, a leaking skylight and now the roof has begun to delaminate waiting to see the estimate for this repair. You would think that it is an old motorhome but no, registered in September 2017 yes 2017 also lots of mechanical issues which are Peugeots quality issues. The milage of this unit is now 24000 that's all and you say British have good quality a massive joke. I feel the industry needs a huge overhaul.

great video but its not actually answering if english motorhomes are rubbish yes the english motorhomes look great but will they last like the german Hymer motorhomes i very much doubt they will weather the same but time will tell for sure

Prima Leisure supplies them with fittings for the cupboard above the sink - There is a 240v socket in the cupboard.

To stop your cloths falling down in your wardrobe I use a shoelace to tie all your cloths hooks together problem solved

We had one of the first Adamo 69/4 and it was not great the shower tray was so shallow water ran out of it. Water leaks from the on board water tank. Drop down bed not going back up and sticking. Build quality very poor screw covers just tape. Window surround not square sunroof whistling above 50mph I could go on, dealer was shocking and couldn’t get in touch. Transit had to have all new fuel injectors after 500 miles, auto box superb and Transit generally good. Sold after 6 months and gone for a camper conversion.
