Damian, I don't know where to begin. First, this is hands down the best road trip video I've ever seen, I felt like I was right there in the seat next to you. I love that you showed us the special equipment for the trip and even (hooray!) the trunk and storage space for it and your bags. I've never seen a video that shows the practical side of a trip like this. Simply brilliant. Second, I have to say again that the spec of your car is stunning (and I usually dislike gold paint and wheels), it just might be the most beautiful modern Ferrari I've ever seen. I do agree with you that the brakes should be amazing right out of the box. You might want to talk to your dealer and make sure that there isn't anything wrong with the system. All-in-all, it was great going along for the ride, thank you.

Great scenery and sounds. Sad to say but my in humble opinion some the groups overtaking was sketchy for the public roads made worse by some locals deliberately driving badly. The heads up radio is good, but could also possibly give a false sense of security - can you tell what's coming but cannot tell you that after the fifth super car that the nutty French local white van driver gonna do a crazy shimmy to make a point :/. Could also be that living in the US has got me paranoid about not crossing double yellow lines in the middle of the road.

Great great great video. Just got to point out their was a lot of overtaking on solid white lines. If their is an accident you will be in serious trouble cause those lines are not to be crossed regardless. A solid line with broken lines on your side means overtake if it’s a solid one on yours and broken on the others you can’t. Just for info cause many of us brits are not aware of this road rule. It’s probably the french were like that. Case in point when passing the fiat panda, that’s a no no. Else great cars, lovely video and thanks for sharing your experience.

Now if we are talking a limited production model, then yeah sure, the "investment" part keeps these cars away from the roads.

The reason your Pista feels sluggish out of some corners on your video is because anything below CT OFF on the Manettino means a Pista has a torque limiter. What you experienced on some corners was the torque limiter which kicks in depending on the amount of steering wheel lock….the more lock you apply then the more the torque limiter kicks in. With CT OFF this doesn’t happen. Cheers guys for helping me choose a Pista!

Damian, I have to disagree with you regarding the Col de Turini. I drove this, and the surrounding mountain roads, several times over several days in June this year (2023) in a 981 Spyder. I would dare to say that is probably the best mountain road I have ever driven. Challenging hairpins and sweepers, narrow in places (more fun), perilous drops, superb road surface (re-surfaced?), NO camper vans, very few cyclists, and no sightseeing tourists. Maybe you went at the wrong time of day/year? Maybe the supercars are just too big for these roads? Whatever the reason for your disappointment, I can wholeheartedly recommend this road as one of the very best in the world. Just pick the right time of day/year and the right car. The 981 Spyder was just perfect for the job. I will be going back in 2024 and I can’t wait. …..keep the great content coming

I had surprisingly mixed feelings watching these brilliant cars drive flat out through the alps. I could sympathise with the locals and other road uses, getting upset, with the conduct of your tour group. I would have much preferred a video of you and your wonderful Ferrari, driving through this wonderful country, paying respect to the locals and other road users, including cyclists and pedestrians and giving the car ‘beans’ when the road conditions and countryside was empty. Not your finest hour!

goodfest007 I think you’ll find our group were v respectful of cyclists, other road users and especially built up areas. And you can see we were only overtaking when told it was clear on the radio. Safety is paramount on these trips I can assure you.

@@TheCarGuysTV I didn't see you as I am near Exeter along the coast, I would have loved to have seen the beautifully specced Pista Spider as Ferrari is my favourite supercar manufacturer. Ferrari has a special place in my heart because a few years back, just before my 11th bday i went to the car dealerships in Exeter (to see Porsche and Ferrari) but when I went to Ferrari they welcomed me in, let me sit in the cars and take photos talked to me and showed me around and really inspired a passion for cars, there were 2 458 Speciale's (one of which was a spider), a LaFerrari, a 458 Challenge car and an F12 TDF as well as some more common models. They told me to follow my passion and gave me a few tips and some advice (which has actually been helpful mostly about school) and even took a photo a few photos of me with the LaFerrari and the other cars for me. I like your channel because you do a lot of Ferrari centred content. I also saw the spec room which was cool. I am now a teenager achieving the best grades possible all round and hope one day to own a business and a Ferrari (of any kind, maybe not above a 200k model from AutoTrader and maybe not even above 100k as there are some really nice 360s and 430s sub 100k now) but knowing the way things are going it would probably be electric.

Alex Booth ...I think it’s much better to dislike it and write a negative comment to influence. You potentially don’t go voting but stay at home and put your head in the sand if things are annoying you. So, people are different, I am a pro active person and you, by your suggestion, aren’t!

@alexbooth19824 жыл бұрын
jogu123 it’s KZbin mate, not an election. If you don’t like it, don’t watch. Having personally done rallies like this, I know there’s no danger so it’s not “highly dangerous, disrespectful and kind of idiotic” as you put it. Go watch some videos of people obeying the Highway Code you clown.

Alex Booth - couldn't have put it better myself. I'm disappointed in your one-dimensional view, jogu123. Clearly safety precautions were taken and observed, and whilst the editing may have led to some exciting moments. - that's the point of the editing.

of all the reviews I've seen on the Pista, they always complained about the rigidity of the chassis due to it being almost 10+ years old... Is it a real problem?
@TheCarGuysTV2 жыл бұрын
You mean not that rigid? Well nothing short of a carbon tub is. This is a Spider, so even less rigid that the coupe

@34:20 mountain valley scene. I hate how capturing cinematic mode on iPhone or high resolution cameras can result in slow frame rate when shown on another device. I captured tons of cinematic vids flying over Mont Blanc in helicopter and they skip on tv like yours. Anyway great video 👍🏾 -Atlanta, Georgia USA.

I’m sorry to say this but I can’t enjoy this content. I’ve been an appreciative subscriber for quite a while but if you think using radios to support blind overtakes on public roads is an acceptable way to behave you are way out of line. Subscription being dropped right now.

Hi Damien. I absolutely loved this video. A wonderful selection of cars being driven like they meant it. Hope it was a good crowd for the evening socials too. I was wondering. You were away for 5 days. Staying at some nice places.... but no wrist watch check!!! What piece accompanied you on the journey? And why that one? Or did you take a few!!! Cheers. Phil.
@TheCarGuysTV4 жыл бұрын
Hi Phil, Thanks. No more wrist watch checks on TheCarGuys as many people found them offensive (yes, I know), and since I have TheWatchGuys.tv - that's where all wrist watch checks will happen in the future. We'll go back to not mentioning them on TCG so that people can guess, or spot and discuss them in the comments.

I'm not a saint when it comes to driving a car but the way you drive in this video is absolutely wrong. tons of dangerous overtaking maneuvers and driving on the left side of the road ... to rely on a colleague driving ahead is reckless and stupid. a shame about the otherwise beautiful video

Sorry, must bring up some critics here. Cutting corners and driving on the opposite lane is not appropriate driving in the mountains. It is not recommended for having fun while driving.

Locals being pissed: don’t care Cutting the turns into the oncoming lane: don’t care Overtaking at a high speed is dangerous: don’t care General hooligan/hooning behavior: don’t care… …that’s what Grand Touring is all about. Live a little. P.S. as for those that imply the “locals” somehow are justified in cutting over into a lane as a car is passing: tell me again who is being more dangerous?

"On days like these....!" Awesome trip, just what we expected! Please let us know the piece of music at 28.50? Don't forget everyone, you can all get a wee bit of this by linking up with other owners of your dynamic sports car or Grand Tourer. I have had and filmed a couple of one day tours with other Alfa Romeo GT Owners (stand down Damien!!) and the experience is just magic. Cars are built to be driven!

Driving through Europe always makes you realise how poor the UK is for true driving pleasure.. did a similar route 2 years ago but also added Switzerland & the Nurburgring on the home leg (granted only in an e46 M3) If you ever need a passenger/ tea bitch maker/ beer bottle opener/ camera man that’s not restricted by child care commitments let me know 😂😂😂 Great watch (shame about the road works but the noise alone makes it worth it 👌)
