I have a few suggestions for foods that you may never have eaten and it’s popular in Brasil, like: Goiaba and Caju (both of them are fruits); Coxinha, pão de queijo (be careful when you say “pão” in Brasil KKKKKKKK), pamonha (my personal favorite), our pizzas because they are reeeeally rich and I think you guys will like it. I'm Brazilian, PF is very common in Brazil and a simpler meal sold in restaurants throughout Brazil. As for the feijoada you ordered, it was served "commercial dish" style or just "commercial" as we call it. In this style of serving, the portions come in separate containers (not together on the same plate as in PF), but there is also feijoada. Pastel is already a dish belonging to Portuguese cuisine that was introduced by the colonizers. You have to eat the biggest and tastiest pastry at the fair. The brigadeiro is 100% our invention, 100% Brazilian. Açai is a fruit endemic to Brazil, the Amazon flora region, the central-west and northern regions of the country. In the state of Rio de Janeiro it is taken in the form of a smoothie, a sweet treat, but in the north of the country it is a savory dish that is eaten with cassava flour, accompanied by fish from the Amazon region.

Rice, beans, steak, french fries, lettuce and tomatoes is the most typical dish in Brazil. You can't eat it separately. In each fork you take a little rice with beans and a piece of steak and put everything in your mouth; and then, with your mouth full - not so much, it depends on each one - you can take a potato, or a lettuce, or a tomato, or all three at once and add to the mouth already "full". It's a common translation mistaken this thing about "pastel" and "cake", because "pastel" in Portugal is related to pasta (cake). But in Brazil, what we call pastel is more like an empanada, but the dough is very different, much softer and crunchy. If you prefer you can call it "pastel de vento"....

@@JoseSilva_ Mas quem traz o pastel pro Brasil são os imigrantes chineses no final do século XIX em São Paulo pq na China já existia a versão frita do gyoza mas aqui foi adaptado. Durante a 2a guerra q os japoneses começam a abrir comércios similares aos chineses pra fugir do preconceito contra japoneses já q muitos estavam sendo inclusive presos e um deles era de pastel. E Portugal não "descobriu" o Japão. Já se tinha comércio da Europa com a China e Japão desde muito antes dos portugueses chegarem lá. E mesmo depois deles irem pro Japão e China, eles não trouxeram nenhum costume culinário de volta pra Portugal.

Fun Fact: Pastel in Brazil means empanada in spanish and pastel in spanish means Cake in brazilian portuguese. Brazilian pastel comes from a chinese dish that we "abraziliered" (turned into brazilian, yeah that's a word) that's basically the way brazilians found out how to do that inmigrant dish with what brazil has to offer, you know, using plants and crops that are most common here instead of using all original recepies's ingredients.

The normal price for lunch is $4, here where I live the lunch cost only $2 , $8 for a lunch is expensive for us... So think about it, u 2 can have a good meal for only two bucks =-)

Rice, Bean, Meat and Salad, that's the core. 11 out of 10 brazilians eat that at least one meal a day, it's part of a commom sense (to eat at least one "real food" per day to keep healthy) yeah, we conseder that combination "real food" all of the rest is snack hahahaha we say to our wife, coworkers, kids, brother, friends, etc, "let's go eat something? tired of real food" and go for a pizza, sushi, empanados, pancakes, shoarma, etc...
