This is my ultimate bushcraft knife setup for all of my winter activities such as winter camping, dog sledding, snowmobiling and everything else in the outdoors in wintertime. I know this is highly personal what kind of knives you want to have and feel comfortable with in the wilderness, but with these knives and tools in my knife belt I feel safe and know I can survive in the wild.

We are Stina & Matti and we live in Northern Sweden in a small place called Jokkmokk. Except for making videos we also run a small company called JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA and a kennel called WORKING HUSKY KENNEL. We offer guided outdoor tours in Swedish Lapland all around the year. During the winter we mostly do dog sled tours and in the summertime, it’s hiking tours, wildlife safaris, canoe, and packraft trips. We live year-round in Jokkmokk with a bunch of Siberian Huskies and 2 Border Collies.

I like my Swiss Army knife, I don’t know the name but it has a Roe buck head on the handle. It’s my EDC knife. Out in the bush year around I carry my Silky Bigboy 2000, it’s light fast to deploy and very efficient saw. The GB outdoor axe is excellent if I am just doing light tasks like making kindling or gathering spruce boughs for a bed. The other two knives depend on the activity, a 9” Rapala filleting knife fishing season and my Enzo trapper 95 hunting season. Leather man multi tool is my portable tool box.

I love puukko knives and started to collect them, then realized that they were made to be used, not to collect dust on a shelf. So now some of my relatives, too, have puukkos...

Lovely to see you cherish and use your uncles belt! Have a go with the Leatherman crunch, the locking plier and compound action making it great for bending and fixing all sorts of metal hardware. Have fun on the big trip!

My dog meat comes in 25kg. blocks. I cut it with an axe daily. I like a 2.5 lb. head on a 24 inch handle. One handed axes are an accident in the making. I also carry a Victorinox multitool and a small Silky saw. My belt knife changes according to mood. Lately it is a Victorinox Venture. For a while it was a Puma White Hunter. Thanks for the video. I used to keep a Spyderco serrated knife hooked to the dog sled to emergency cut ganglines but I lost and, luckily, found it a few times. Thanks for the bideo.

Hi Matti: Great knives and amazing belt👍🏻. Really like the Sami knives. I have been carrying an Opinel knife with me on hiking & camping trips for over 35 years. I take care of it and it takes care of me!! Over the past several years I have added some Mora knives. Great value and quality.

I carry small foldup pocket knife for meals/eating, a small hand axe, a 3.75" hunters knife with scabbard, a small multifunction Tool (not Leatherman brand) & a 9.5" Silky Gomboy saw that only cuts on the pull stroke. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada, U.S.A.

I travel on motorcycle, tours of 12-18tkm in 3 weeks. My tools are split, partially multiplied. Every bike has it’s own tool-bag, it contains specific tools for the bike and type of use of the bike (offroad, streetcruiser, racer, sport for quick rounds, classic old-timer) and on top I have my personal EDC adding to these tools, that is left in my specific jackets (General jacket, MC leather jacket, …). My personal tools that serve me even without the bike’s own kit: - Victorinox Swisschamp (all purpose small stuff fixing rig) - Leatherman classic (I owned it from the beginning and never swapped it, mechanical stuff fixer) - Victorinox Rucksack (also known as Farmer or the like, general hiking or EDC multipurpose Wine-bottle opener and food tool) - Opinel #9 carbon (my main general food prep knife in and outside the kitchen, doesn’t travel). - Morakniv Companion (my tent camping knife, thailand jungle, greek mountains, north-cape, high atlas, anywhere, goes with camping gear) - handmade twisted steel handle thick neck strong custom knife made of a long file (my tent camping axe replacement works as a hammer and a splicer) - handmade pocket knife from an old man of my grandfather’s place who makes the pocket knives that my grandfather made with his children in the 50s, when in Portugal the cutlery industry kicked off in that area (ICEL, and others, who are distant family members). - Leatherman grandfathered PST bits tool for standard bits (with me on every motorcycle trip, together with the original Leatherman SuperTool) - Bahco 9071P dual function adjustable wrench (with me on every motorcycle trip)

I am relying entirely on 2 Moraknives, and 1 swiss pocket knife. Those do the job - any job. Everywhere. At all times. Anything else would be "nice to have", yet not essential, I reckon.

Hello Matti, thank you for another video! Myself I own many knives...for the past few years i've been using a Leuku by H Roselli...this has been used for many of my heavier tasks such as cutting browse, poles and splitting for kindling. I also use a mora #1 for carving and an OdenWolf W1 in 440C stainless for food prep. However from time to time (when feeling nostalgic), I'l carry my old Large butcher knife, along with some type of hand axe...with the Mora"1 for good measure...I usually have a folding saw thrown in my backpack, though it does'nt see much use these days...thanks again my friend!...woods

Lägg gärna upp en film med hur man tar hand om sina verktyg, knivar, yxor mm. Är ju rätt viktigt då man ändå betalar rätt mkt pengar för dom. Alltså slipar, bryner mm...

I'm almost afraid to bring this up. Leave No Trace - Do you & your clients pack out your #2 waste? Mt Everest climbers, from this year on, will be required to pack out all their #2 waste, Considering they have to spend 6 weeks at Base Camp just to acclimate to thin air + the days/nights climbing to higher elevations camps & the summit push both up & down - each person's #2 waste weight is going to be a significant add on weight in their backpack. Soooo - what's the deal with "Leave No Trace" within Jokkmokk Guiderna tours/clients & all the dogs? C'mon, I wanna see some dialog on this "matter" from Matti & Stina. Warm Regards from far away Reno, Nevada, U.S.A.

In Sweden we bring out our waste. We don’t bring out our shit and we burn toilet paper during winter. All other stuff we bring out. We can’t leave waste in the cabins either so each person brings their waste out. That’s how it is in Swedish Mountains! /Matti
