Is Câmara De Lobos a good place to base yourself for a week or two? Are there enough walking routes from there?

Morning LY&M, I'd say yes it's a good base if you like something a bit smaller than Funchal but still want to be on a bus route there. I have to say it's Funchal for me but you can't go wrong with either.

That's a walk we intend doing a few times on our stay later this month. It was raining the last time we went so didn't see much of it. There's quite a lot to see there so that was a helpful video Mike. It's actually not that far to walk to Cabo Girao from Camara de Lobo's so we might give that a go.

Hello there Paul, oh yes indeed, I'm sure you'd enjoy the walk between Cabo Girao and Camara de Lobo's... just make sure you do it from Cabo Girao so it's downhill!! Then you can finish the day off with a nice bolo do cacao and a nikita. Thanks for dropping by mate!

Good video. Re the lizards. Used to see a lot of these lizards where we were staying in Lanzarote some years ago. Lots of cats in the grounds and lizards. I knew what you were going to say before you said it. I vividly recall seeing a cat eat a lizard and the long tail of the lizard hanging out of the cats mouth until eventually swallowed. So same experience not that far away from where you are. I was quite shocked and couldn’t quite believe what I had seen. It all happened so fast. I remember the reflection of the strong sun on the whitewashed wall. Never forgot this. By the way the weather looks excellent. January ??? Great narration and filming. Thanks.

Hi Foster mcadam, thanks for the lovely comment. Yes, I guess this explains why you don't see many scrawny cats in the Canaries then :) And yes, the weather was pretty great. It's not too different in Madeira in January from Lanzarote - both make great winter escapes.
