He was talking about the pod racer scene, it is one of the best sounding scenes in a movie to demo on a good home theater with the high pitched noised and crazy bass one after each other. That scene is worth owning the disc. Great list you made my favorite is a quiet place.

A lot of people bash on the new batman because of Robert Pattinson BUT!!! I THOUGHT IT WAS FANTASTIC!! And I totally agree, when the batmobile starts up, off camera, the high pitched whine of the turnine engine with the rumble and low howl, epic ear candy! I have yet to see Gran Turismo but I'm glad you included it, Emelia Hartford is amongst my FAVOURITE youtube personalities! Top Gun Maveric...15/10 the F-18 flight scenes makee grin from ear to ear! I legit put off watching The Batman because of Robert Pattinson but, also because it was 3 hours long and I couldn't justify watching it. I find the subtleties of Deepwater Horizon and a Quiet place to be a great example of how less is more. I think a really neat scene for Dolby atmos is on the Kevin Costner western Horizon. The cabin on fire scene is intense 😮

Alita Battle Angel , the MotorBall race is one of my favorite demo scenes to use. Another title that no one would think of is the 4K release of Streets of Fire. This is a complete cheese fest of a movie originally released in 1984. The fact that this movie is so over the top is what makes it fun to watch. Whoever did the audio remix must have figured that they make the Atmos soundtrack just as ridiculous as the storyline and went absolutely crazy with it. If you're in the mood for something that's simply fun to watch and will give your Atmos speakers a workout, I'd highly suggest checking it out.

It may just be an Audio disc but Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon Remastered atmos album is amazing, really worth a listen, every track is demo worthy to your friends. Cant got wrong with the Hans Zimmer Live in Prague. Metallica Through The Never Concert - has some great atmos, just difficult to get your hands on a copy of it.

I’ve heard a lot of these but still my favourite sounding home disc is band of brothers/the pacific. They are incredible especially upmixed with Neural X. Jurassic Park DTSX is outstanding! Sicario (also Denis Villenueve)

Scott Pilgrim and Black Hawk Down are amazing Atmos. Master and Commander and U-571 if we're counting 5.1 for upmixing. John Williams Live in Vienna and Hans Zimmer Live in Prague. Trust me, you will not regret these purchases.

Super 8, while it sounds fantastic, doesn't have an Atmos track on the UHD. It is only in 7.1. But that train scene will still sound like it's tearing your room apart.

The first 20 minutes of Man of Steel will leave you with your mouth hanging open. Watch it soon, you will absolutely love it in your HT. Also, one of my faves for Atmos is Master and Commander with Russell Crowe. The first battle scene with people running around on the deck of the boat above you is worthy of your demo list. Good bass rumbles with the cannons too.

If you want to show off what your overheads can do Fright Night (1985) has one of the best Atmos scenes for overheads on the format. The scene where Jerry Dandridge lands on Charlie's roof and starts walking it actually sounds like someone is walking right above you panning across the room.

I would say a fantastic movie to watch is Prometheus from the Alien franchise. Such a good soundtrack. Smile 2 also has a really good mix even though I do not like those movies much but, my wife does.

Only 8 minutes in but I have to comment on Baby Driver. Everybody uses the opening scene then stops when he gets to the coffee shop. You need to keep it going as he's taking coffee back. You hear sounds moving all around him. More subtle (since it's not a big action sequence) but a good use of channels (IMO).

Mother (2017) has an outstanding Atmos mix. It's puzzling why Christopher Nolan and his team haven't flexed their skills in any 3D audio formats. All Nolan films' traditional surround sound mixes are second to none.

“12 STRONG” is in Dts-HDMA 5.1, but like the Chris Nolan movies, it still sounds Spectacular (!!), and you can up mix it to Dts: Neural X. It has a lot of action sequences and the LFE is straight out Thunderous!! Good movie too based on true events just after 9/11.

For what it is worth, I'm incredibly tired of these videos always being the same 'type' of film. Action, sci-fi, BIG movies. I don't have atmos in my home, so I can't help, but I know from experience in cinemas and the occasional 5.1 film that does what I'm going to mention - Understated, but hyper-creative surround sound. One example I can think of is the animated film Song of the Sea. This is an incredible film for starters. Absolutely beautiful and full of rich emotion and meaning. That said, the opening sequence in 5.1 just crushes so much of the over-blown stuff being hyped elsewhere. It's like Pink Floyd's Darkside of the Moon. Widely regarded as being one of the best "sounding" rock records of all time one of the things the engineers emphasize is that it's the compositions - the silence between the notes. It gives the human ear and emotional response CONTRAST and real intrigue! I'm sure most people will have no clue what I'm ranting about, but for those who do, you're not alone! One mix I'm looking forward to is The Brutalist. That was incredibly dynamic and immersive with plenty of room to breathe. Mind-blowing stuff.

You need to be getting them on disc. Streaming will give you an approximation but it doesn't have the bandwidth to give you the dynamics between the quiet and the loud parts.

Good list. Lots I agree with and I few I am unaware of. If you are going to include upmix, then Underwater (2020) Blu-ray DTS HD 7.1 using DTS NeuralX upmix is incredible. Better and more imersive than many Atmos mixes. A personal guilty pleasure that many say is a bad movie I enjoy and think the sound is what makes the movie for me is King Arthur Legend of the Sword (2017). The Doors (1991) 4K with Atmos is under the radar. Kinda like A Quiet Place, it is all the subtle sound immersing you into the environment. One scene is like reverse Atmos. They are in a upper floor with windows open and you hear the traffic below. It sounds below. Music mixed with the sound Suspiria (1977) 4K is a feast. I enjoy the film as an art piece with the Goblin sound track and the absolute stunning visuals of the restoration.

its a good start, but Im a bit stunned that you really watch movies you found awfull just because of a good sound mix 😔, live is too short to watch bad movies 🤗 while there are still many good movies with even better sound, that might not be so well known in the us: all quite on the western front (2022), not the crappy stream version on netflix, but the uhd version! atmos on stream is always bad as they only use 768 kbits, so there are a lot of artefacts in the height channels. discs use 5-10 times more! other excellent sounding atmos-uhd-restaurations: blade runner, apocalypse now, and for a 5.1-track, watch the uhd of taxi driver and let bernhard hermanns sparse orchestral hits blow you out of your seat, they are haunting.

Ive been doing a bluray stint of late as these have DTS. Upmixed with nuralx on a 11.5.8. Just blows away atmos for the most part... even 4k. Even did fifth element on dvd superbit with dts and was better that the 4k atmos remaster. Image on a 150in not so... :-)

Neural X is pretty great. Use it on Nolan’s films. Was particularly impressed with it on Interstellar. The effects it shifted to the top speakers was spot on. Also the music coming from overhead added to the immersion.

Speed doesn’t have an atmos mix and neither does super 8. Great movies though.

It's 2025, why make us a list of movie's that have been reviewed, a million times. No need to sell us on Wick, Blade Runner, Deep Water etc... you were acting like these movie's were released yesterday. You all just copy, one another. Here's the thing, the movie "Free Guy" has the best Atmos mix of 2024. Hands Down. No one has the balls to say it. I was intrigued by your Pitch Black and Guns of Naveron, two fims no one 2024 were reviewing.
