Is elemental aversion in a different bucket for damage reduction compared to the protection from gemstones you already have on though?

Really like this build, could you like you did with the spear skill breakdown provide one for the GS and Bow, would like to know where to focus the points early on when levelling up the weapons.

This excites me because I've found I really love the Greatsword/spear combo but I don't see many people talking about that setup... I'm a total noob so forgive the stupid question, but why do you need mana potions on a greatsword build?
