If you cannot get the best thing do not stress about it, all of the drones I go over are still incredible to be able to get and you will have a huge ceiling before you outgrow it.
Or find one on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. USED DRONES ARE A THING I forgot to mention - I have bought used drones before. Usually you know right away if something is up with it and the app will alert you.
Mavic 3 Pro (2023) - $2300
5.1K Video, 4/3" Sensor, 20mp RAW photos, collision sensors, parking cameras black & white preview thing, 3 cameras.
46m flight time. Get the normal version not the $4000 CINE version if you don't know why you need Prores.
This is the Business Class plane ticket drone, there is no going back after having this. Unbelievable dynamic range. UNREAL stability, default color profile is great, flexible rich data for color grading.
A 3x and a 7x telephoto camera, Great for cool angles and cinematography nerds. In general most of what I film on this drone looks better in the end than what I thought I was getting while shooting. They knocked it out of the park with this drone, no limits honestly.
Mavic 3 Classic - $1600
Not typing all that again, you get the point. Same same but different, no telephoto cameras. Main camera is only priority anyway, everything else is the same. Crapping myself at the price being so cheap now.
Air 3 (2023) - $1100
4K Footage x2, 2x .76" sensors, 12mp RAW photos, 2 cameras, 46m flight
Closer to Mavic 3 size than Mini 3 Pro. Feels like a big step up from Mini 3 Pro despite same sensor size of .76"
Great low-light, better than Air 2S despite less hardware. Sensor is a huge improvement, clearly beats Mini 3 Pro and Air 2S in quality AND has a 3x telephoto (the only one you really need).
Mini 3 Pro (2022) - $750/$900
4K, 12mp RAW photos, Great connection, Vertical Filming, .76 inch sensor, really impressive for the convenience and ease. Makes you forget you have it on you and go fly WAY more often. By far the most fun
Get the $900 one, it is a billion times worth having a dedicated smart remote especially for so little extra.
Autel Evo Lite Plus (2022) - $1100
6K 1" inch sensor, 20 megapixel photos. Flies pretty rigid so stick to front/back and left/right. Actually a nice picture, lovely reds like in all Autels. Oversharpened image but I can live with that. Fun colors to pick from give extra points, could use on a work day no sweat. Doesn't beat DJI but this isn't bad if you HAVE to.
Inspire 2 + X5S camera - $8000+ Used
Shoots 6K RAW Video (literally films in RAW format photos)
5.2K 422 Prores and 4K Proress 4444 if you know what that means. Cinema formats but such a pain to lug around, and the noise is a lot. It's more like a once in a while, Ace in the hole to blow something out the water or shoot Stock Footage and practice cinematography. Interchangeable lenses are really nice too, would still pick Mavic 3 Pro over it at this point.
I edit with Adobe Premiere Pro and the color grading you see me doing is in there as well using the Lumetri Color effect it has, if you use DaVinci good for you I don't care, stop pumping your cult.

Like a broken record, I'm just gonna say that a Refurb Mavic 3 classic can be bought cheaper than a new Air 3. Seems silly to buy the Air 3 at all unless you really want that tele 3x, but adjustable aperture seems to be the most important thing.

Yo Alex... love your channel tried to get a hold of yeah for the course.... Just want to say- I got the Mini 3 Pro + RC kit.... and while I never regretted it, I actually sold the RC to reduce the costs because the N1 just worked that much better for me. Does it lose the premium feel? sure but I have a great smartphone and someone else had a terrible iPhone so it worked out for their mavic 3 set up. The N1 just feels that good + muscle memory- also a bonus having internet connectivity and better Google maps system vs whatever licensed maps junk that the RC comes with

One thing ill add get the autels if ur most focused on photo and also need to take off anywhere without restrictions or fly to any height you feel like, the djis though fly better and has a nicer color but i keep an autel when i have certain jobs that require freedom and it makes me pretty valuable as im one of the few drone pilots that can get certain shots

Dope video as always, I'm looking into getting the Mavic 3 Pro to upgrade from my Air2 which was my frist drone and still serves me well. 2200 looked daunting but considering that i already make money doing realestate photography as well as random commisions to shoot ariel footage for local music videos makes the price easier to bare as it will pay for itself eventually. Question Should i wait a bit to find a deal maybe on a fly more combo or just buy it and maybe some ND Filters? I heard the Fly time is fine, and while i have 3 batteries for my Air2 its rare that go though more than 2.

So I have the air 2S and I shoot a lot of 9 and 21 shot panorama photos, I usually shoot in raw and JPEG and if it’s not windy, the drone does an OK job at stitching them together, but usually I like to bring them into lightroom, but even still, I have some issues lining the photos up and getting them perfect, or rather lightroom has an issue with it, are there any tricks you use to Make your panoramas look seamless?

Question: I’m trying to upgrade from my Mavic 1 Pro (yikes, I know). I am totally stuck between the Air 2S or the Mavic 3 Classic. The Mavic obviously has the upper hand in flight time, camera quality, and obstacle avoidance, but to have the option to do autonomous mapping with the Air 2S just feels like it is potentially worth having if I decide to do so. I want to start in real estate photography/videography but can't decide if the slightly decreased camera is worth leaving the possibility to pursue photogrammetry if possible. Please help!

You say you use Adobe Lightroom to blend two exposures together for your hyperlapse. I'm used to using the raw photos to make a hyperlapse in Lightroom/premiere, but I don't have multiple exposures. Are you using exposure bracketing during a hyperlapse flight? Is that an option?

Is there a difference between the Mavic 3 pro and the Mavic 3 Classic. I may have missed the specific nomenclature. I ask because you foot-stomped getting the 4/3 Hasselblad, which the classic has. And, used, on amazon the classic is less expensive than the Air 3. Edit: Difference other than zoom options. I am fine with shooting wide angle...in fact I prefer it. Edit: I do photography and am looking for that 20MP file.

Awesome video. However, the 'Cine' version of the Mavic 3's doesn't have a harddrive (as that's the old spinning harddrives), but an SSD. Now i'm just being nitpicky, but I just figured out that it was just best to point that out 😀. Oh also, let me be the first one for you to abandon the 'DJI RC' for the 'DJI RC-N1' for my Mavic 3 Pro. Because I find the experience in using the DJI Fly app much much better by running it via the smartphone I have. And not to mention my smartphone have a much bigger screen (7.6 inch) and 1750 nits display compared to the DJI RC's 5.5 inch and 700 nits display. The DJI RC is very slow and laggy. And It doesn't even let you install other drone apps (or apps in general) either. The DJI Fly app runs super smooth and doesn't lag at all on my smartphone while using it with my drone. You can't even do live streaming with the DJI RC as it's not powerful enough for that. But I can do that via my smartphone. If you have a powerful smartphone like I have (Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5), you will have a MUCH better experience with the DJI RC-N1 controller (with a tablet holder) over what you can get with the DJI RC. Oh, did I forget to mention the slow update cycles for the DJI Fly app on the DJI RC as well? Yeah, you save some few hassles by using the DJI RC, but the advantages you get with the DJI RC-N1 and a high-end smartphone overruns the negative sides with the DJI RC-N1 by a mile though.

OK, here are a couple of thoughts... You just met someone who regretted getting the RC controller (I have 2 mini 3 pros both with RC controller)...its super frustrating that to unlock waypoints you need either the RC Pro ($1100) or the cheapest worst controller the RC-N1 I picked up an RC-N1 for like $60, and now I can fly autonomous missions, which is kind of like a huge feature. In general, I really like the RC controller, but to get every feature you have to have the N1 (youtube streaming, waypoints, etc). I hate that that is the case, but that is how it is, RC controller has less features than the N1. I got a cheap dedicated android phone just to use with that controller. Secondly, I think that the increasing regulation means that the M3P really is becoming more and more valuable. I think the Air 3 is slightly better, but I don't think it justifies for me specifically, the increase in weight. If I wanted to get the most useful, I think I would go to the Mavic...because at that point it is going to be like commercial and planned and you have to carry all the equipment, but for just shooting for yourself on the fly, mini 3 pro can't be beat, literally can be put in a pocket. I mean, think about this, in which scenario is someone going to say "you aren't allowed to fly that here". I know the regulations on flying over people, etc are all very complicated, combined with the local and state laws, but in general, the less "intimidating" your drone looks, the less people will even complain in the first place. I've never had someone complain with the mini 3 pro. Last point, I know you shouldn't make decisions based on things that are going to be released, but at this point the Mini 4 Pro is all but guaranteed based on the "leaks", I would personally wait to see what features it has before getting an Air 3. I am guessing that it is going to be better in some ways, I think we are expecting omnidirectional sensing and maybe the same stacked sensor and night mode... the one thing Air 3 has is the telefoto, so if that is important, I guess get that one. Really glad you made this as I’m currently in a predicament with which drone to get, I’m torn between the mavic 3 cine pro and inspire 2, the inspire looks incredible and I really want to shoot night video in low light. I wish I could get you to review the new potensic atom with the gimbal. I get it that dji is a more professional, so you would see more pro style reviews. But, it seems like everyone that reviews anything other then dji have never used a camera before. I know they are toys, but really they are flying cameras. Every review is like, unbox, fly in a park on a sunny day, and,, that’s it that’s all reviews. That potensic has what seems like a good Sony sensor, and flys pretty good and I don’t see myself paying dji prices to play around taking photos. Anyway, man I appreciate the videos.

i also just crop in on the wide footage instead of turning the head vertical on the min 3p. do you lose quality having to crop in on your phone for it to fill the phone screen better? i prefer to capture all the scene and use for youtube and then crop in for inta. i'd buy your course but i use davinci :(

Regarding the Mavic 3 PRO, i just bought one and i cant use any color profile on lightroom while shooting DNG's. Am I doing something wrong ? It only shows "Color/Monochromatic" while on my Air2S dng's I can select all of adobe color profiles
