Tyler I am thinking that it is possible that when you find a lot of logging tools etc. it was indeed a river used for that purpose. The horse shoes in the mix make sense, they used horses on the banks to pull wagons and rafts. The saw blades were also used for multiple things at that time in history. So cool when you find that stuff! It's so cute when Owen just chills under the umbrella.

That piece of metal you found that you said was part of a pick, was actually a shark tooth implant. Good video, as always. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with those saying this might have been the location of a saw mill. This site might have some historical significance for the area. It might be worth checking with a local historical society, museum, or town historian. Donating some of that stuff might result in a collection named after Tyler and/or Owen. 🙂

ok, so loggers would use big staples and the long links and spiked horse shoes to connect logs end to end. they would connect a bunch of them to make a big ring of logs . the loose logs would be inside the ring of logs thus the logs were all kept together as they floated down the river or pulled up the river with horses.

The chain type looking item you guys pulled up from the depths. Looks a lot like some thing I've seen a lot on conveyer type setups that keep products moving down the conveyer line. I also think I have seen them in saw mills to pull the tree through the saw blade long ways. Awesome video, loved when Owen said any Frankie's in there? 😊

Excellent finds today Tyler, and Owen. I love when Owen tries to say what the piece of metal is. You should look into the history from that area, and see if there use to be a paper mill in that area. That would be an amazing find if there was one. I guessed close on your scrap run. I said at least $100, possibly more. You got some heavy metal pieces out on that run. Have a great day my friend ❤️🙂⚘️.

Ok @ 13:50 that thing you found looks like some kind of buckle or guide . Admittedly I do not know what it really is ... but I've watched you pull several of those up & many of those "U" spike and many of those large (🔗) link pieces ... after looking them all over I am taking a guess that they all go together . The buckle piece gets attached to a log by the "U" spike , then the (🔗) pieces go through the buckle to cinch several logs together . Simply guessing !! LoL

If that building is a wood mill they may have floated logs to it and those flat chains are the kind of chains used on the ramp like a conveyor to lift the logs up the ramp. A lot of work would be done by the mill and that would explain the concentration of logging tools and equipment.

Oconto huh? Hmmm….the most I can remember is the horsefly’s. They are the absolute worst up there! We used to go tubing down the Peshtigo in Oconto as a kid. And my Dad lost his wallet, it was found and mailed back to him 10 years later, with his license and $10 bill still in it!! That was the 70’s for ya.😊 Yes, logging was a big part of the economy there long ago. They used draft horses to pull them out of the woods to the truck for loading.
