So I’m sitting on my couch, beer in hand, dreading the large screen showing my getting broken serving for the set. I have beaten myself up a little about the game, but watching it again made me realize that Ian and Ira were absolute warriors that game and were not going to be denied. I don’t feel bad anymore, and honestly, I was fired up watching that set! Can’t wait for the next four sets 😬

Ira is just a big game player! Despite seemingly lack of fitness, he knows when to "lock down" (be consistent) and pull off clutch shots (23:57). I feel like his jovial personality really masks his actual competitiveness and mental toughness. It's so easy to underestimate Ira. This will be a tough one for Scott/Mark to climb back. Scott needs to serve better and Mark has to play better in general. So far, this has been a great match! 👍

I think you have Ira pegged. He’s dangerous and isn’t prone to negativity, and he’s a great doubles partner with the skill set he brings. It always seems like he can respond to your pressure.

Surprised, but it turns our Ira is the best of the four in that set. Ian is at the net as good as any of them. They applied a little pressure and it was enough - Scott/Mark just gave away too many errors. They should still win, assuming they can cut that error count down, and/or Ira goes off the boil.

Rule for doubles- if the return is sliced, the net player should try to poach. It's floating slow, hard to keep it low because it's a return of serve.

Ian/ET squad, What do you guys think about communicating with your partner while the ball is on your opponent's side? It's technically illegal but seems to be accepted. For example, when Ira said "pinch the middle" as Mark was hitting, I believe Mark could technically call a hindrance.
