one of the omertà thugs always carried a riot shotgun in one of the backrooms when your doing the mob boss quests... haven't played NV in years ( I want to tho) and remember that being the most consistent way of getting one

I would always avoid it and just sell it but next time I’ll give it a fair go. At least til level six at which point I’ll just sell it. 😂 the regular caravan shotgun looks a lot more appealing to me in the long run. I never really gave that one a fair shake but it’s ok. I just wish the sights weren’t so awful. 🤮

Doesn’t work with and stay back, and honestly I prefer the single shotgun. It’s the most accurate base shotgun. Only thing more accurate is hunting shotgun with choke

If you go into 3rd person ads then zoom back in it will overlay the crosshair over your iron sights if you do this on the caravan shotgun its under the screw head on the cowboy repeater its to the top right of the front sight so if you keep missing with a weapon try this i have to do it every time i pick up the survivalist rifle to adjust to it

Dinnerbell is so flexible that i usualy make a effort to get it as soon as possible. I have gotten pretty good on finding the eggs fairly early in the game. Its also really fun to snipe long distance enemys with the hunting shotguns. They have almost sniper rifle levels of effective range.

The riot shotgun might be the one of the most OP weapons in the game, but I’d argue the hunting shotgun is not at all far behind. And the lever action is damned solid as well. The rest are serviceable, but mid.

NGL, always figured the single shotgun should’ve had the scope attachment instead of the 9 mm at the beginning of the game for an super early sniper (with slugs) (before you can afford the night vision sight for VR or go for ratslayer).

@@joolsmacgrools1288 not really, they would’ve just put the scope on the barrel when you commit to the brake action instead of the pistol, and you would use as a sniper with its higher accuracy with early game slug rounds (that you would have considering the VR would still be 22)

Surprised you didn't mention the lever-action shotgun is affected by the Cowboy perk for an extra 25% more damage on top of everything else. Definitely pops it up into A tier for me, because it brings the damage up to Hunting Shotgun levels. Of course, nothing is as good as the Riot Shotgun, which is one of the best CQB weapons in the entire game, if not the best. If you're not into Jury Rigging perk, you can do Dead Money, one of the things you can spend those tokens on are weapon repair kits. Since you get them every three days, you effectively have unlimited repair kits and can keep this weapon in top shape. About the only guns that can really compete are either the Survivalist's Rifle from Honest Hearts, which is expensive to keep fed with 12.7mm, or Christine's CoS Sniper Rifle for stealth sniper builds.

@@robertharris6092 I'm sure it does but I'm too dumb/lazy to parse what it actually means. What's worth crafting for what enemy types. And how common are those enemy types. These are the questions the video answers for me. Especially if i'm not using the perk that shows enemy DR/DT.

@@nataku7 theres no "enemy types" other than pulse weapons and robotr/power armor. If an enemy has high DT. Use AP. If an enemy has low/no DT use HP.

Triple aught buckshot "000" is 6, 36 caliber or 9.14mm pellets. A number three buckshot "#3" is 18, 25 caliber or 6.35mm pellets. In england they call it Triple-0 buckshot.

Right. Time for my vats-based single shotgun with a side order of tin grenades run. The same run I always do, but even more restricted on the shotgun type. I don't know what it is about guns in games, but I always, always prefer having to reload after every shot (no matter what kind of gun it is). I guess it's the timing predictability of it. In other games I've even nerfed some weapons just to be able to hold less rounds just so that they have to reload after one shot. I heard someone describe it as "tactical" and I guess that word works, sorta. The sawn-off kinda counts for that since I adore that it always fires both barrels at once, but honestly, it's a bit overpowered for my tastes so I think I'll be dropping 12-guage entirely. I want some thrill in my battles (and I don't have access to mods, being a console player). So in addition to running always with 1 endurance, be nice to take such a simple weapon right the way through to the end including all quests and DLCs. I had forgot that unlike the lever-action, it isn't boosted by the cowboy perk. Which is a shame, but ah well. I'm sure I'll still "have a blast" and "break a leg" with my very cruel ex-military animal doctor who's against the whole 'human race in control of anything' idea. :) Enjoyed your light armor video particularly too for a similar reason of it always being my go-to (I'm thinking gecko-backed leather for that, this time around).

By far the most overpowered weapon category in the game. Shotgun Surgeon, And Stay Back, the ammo variety and the absurdly powerful weapon selection make the game a breeze (even more than it already is - the game's piss easy, let's be honest) if you opt for the shotgun playstyle. With only two perks you can get insane armor penetration (with a weapon type that's only supposed to accomplish armor penetration at all with specialized rounds, mind you) and the ability to stunlock most enemies you come across. Minimum investment for absolutely insane power.

is it just me or is damage inconsistent in new vegas, or the fps fallout games as a whole. my perks and weapon stats on paper say i SHOULD do good damage but then when i try to fight enemies , is sometimes just delete their hp or just barely do damage despite scoring crits. though I'm also on very hard-hardcore difficulty as well

If you’re using shotguns in VATS with regular shot, that might be the problem. My suggestion is to only use VATS on shotguns if you’re packing slugs. The damage formula is weird in VATS; you don’t get the full benefit of multiple projectiles.
