Hello friends, today with a large video about everything you need to know to be a good Frost Mage in patch 9.2. It took me a few days of non-stop working, simulating, editing to create this video. I hope that it's going to be good and that majority of you will be happy with it!

Would you stick with the old rotation if you have double legendary and no tier pieces? (for sad souls like me that haven't even sniffed a single piece) I tried not casting ice lances during deathborne and it felt awful (and looked awful on the meters)

Awesome guide. I learned a lot. The one thing I would advise is that when you are ramping. use frostbolt 2 times after brainfreeze. It came out to more dps for me than to use bf every other fb.

Probably, I was looking around about it - maybe even Flurry - Frostbolt - Frostbolt - Frostbolt - Flurry - all the Frostbolts will get affected by Shatter. Small difference, but yeah should be tiny amount better.

Thanks for touching on glacial fragments. For a while certain guides were making this out to be better than it is. It's good for padding overall but losing the prio dam is often usually bad.

Yeah, it's only for pure AoE, like Prototype Pantheon last phase when you fight 4, it's ideal to run Glacial just there. Since priority damage isn't important you just need to DPS them all down.

Old Fire guides are actually good! Since set doesn't affect the gameplay that much. Arcane on the other hand, 4 set makes a difference. But still the gameplay is similar

We need Exalted to craft it in some other item :D Before that keep it on Belt. You want to have 4 set piece and already a lot of Mage Legendaries are kinda in those spots :( So maybe you will want to keep the Legendary at the Belt or maybe even on the Ring.

Thank you, I actually did use all of the Brain Freeze procs :D But everytime I did a Frostbolt I generated a new one, basically I had like 4x Brain Freeze in a row.

Hey Marko, great video as always. One thing I am wondering about though is that I am having trouble getting uptime on icyveins. I can usually get it between 30-10 seconds remaining, but I am never able to make it overlap. My crit is at 31% and my haste is at 20%, so I am really at a loss to figure out how you are able to have 80 seconds remaining by the time your third mirror is even consumed. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

What helps is too try and get some AoE procs in. Ring of frost and either orb or a quick cone of cold will get you a lot! Also it really helps if your conduit is at 252, but I think you probably already have that.

Hey there Marko! Thanks for posting this guide on frost mages. If I'm understanding this correctly for Necrolord rotation, unless you're doing ST, you always want to be spamming frostbolts and frostbolt->flurry? Then outside of Deathborne, you just go through with the normal rotation? I do have another question, when you have a proc of fingers of frost, should I always precast frostbolt first unless I have a brain freeze proc? e.g. 1 fingers of frost proc means that I will pre-cast frostbolt into fingers of frost, or should I spam frostbolt until I have 2 fingers of frost and then spend them immediately? Sorry for the long questions, I'm new to frost mage :)

First question yes and no :D There is time when you don't want to just spam Frostbolt even if it's 2 target cleave. I can give you a raid example - The Fallen Oracle and Lords of Dread. On Fallen Oracle the little add is going to die super fast, so you won't have a chance to ramp on him and Ice Lance does a bigger burst damage let's say. So you will benefit more from the short burst of damage than the ramp. Lords of Dread fight, during your Deathborne you are spamming Frostbolts, unless it's their Swarm Phase where they are taking 100% more damage and there you want to focus on doing as much current damage as you can without thinking about the ramp. 100% damage will make your Fingers of Frost hit like a truck. 2nd question, yes outside of Deathborne you are going for normal rotation. 3rd question, yes if you get FoF you are already casting a new Frostbolt in 90% of the cases. After that Frostbolt you will just press Ice Lance to consume the FoF. Like & Subscribe :P

1.) Both of those Soulbinda are close, I prefer Heimir and at the moment when I made this video Emeni was simming better. 2.) Just use Slick Ice and you will do good.

Good video and good job figuring out what works now and sharing it, unfortunately the CDR nerf killed what made the spec fun for many players. These developers can't seem to stop sabotaging their own game.

I hate the change as well with the Blizzard CDR nerf. They nerfed the cleave capability of a historically Cleave spec just because of the Mythic+. Honestly they should have just made it less invasive for the average player. My idea for the nerf was, cap the Cooldown reduction from Blizzard to 4,5 targets. That way raid cleave and ordinary AoE in non coordinated M+ groups won't suffer as much.

Hello, i have a question. For ST, you dont show differencies between having tier set or not / double legendary or not. Does it change nothing to the ST rotation?

I'm counting on the fact that you have tier set. Rotations are done with 4pc tier set and then with 4pc + Double Legendary. The rotation is the same with 2pc and 4pc, no difference. As for DPS without tier set on ST, my older videos are still valid.

Okay so that's a very hard question hahaha I would personally craft it in Helm Slot and I'm thinking of crafting Slick Ice on Belt slot. That way you'll gain the best stats (Set Legs offer Crit/Haste).

That probably means that I will have to have multiple Unities. Luckily for us, Slick Ice is going to be the best legendary for the whole raid as Necrolord. We only may find ourselves using Cold Front on Prototype Pantheon and Mythic+.

As for Cold Front, I would craft it on my Chest slot - since back slot gives way too low amount of stats. That's why I would craft Unity on either Belt or Feet slot. I am not too sure about this one, I need to check the loot list from the last 3 bosses and see if they drop Boots or Belt and decide in order of it. Ring slot is also an option, especially if you can't get a good Ring.

Ye mate, I was using Slick Ice in those NL demos (1 and 2 targets). You can keep Legs for now in your Leg slot, since we'll get Double Legendary in belt.... The legendary cost isn't going to be too high anyway, so we can do whatever we want :D

If you Play freezing Winds in m+ because of tyrannical week for the extra single target damage, are you still gonna ignore all the procs you get using Frozen orb on 2+ Targets instead of ramping ?

I don't play Freezing Winds anymore :D I only play Slick Ice for Tyrannical weeks, it feels better with Necrolords. Slick Ice does completely fine on multiple targets as well, overall my DPS was a lot bigger with Slick Ice, so I can't answer your question with certainty :D

Hey man, i got a question about brain freeze proc. Can you please tell me why you get another flurry proc(30% chance that you mentioned). Is it because of frostbolt or? And if it is. isn’t it better to use ice lance first then cast another frostbolt then flurry. I’m a bit confuse with how it works.

Yes, because you can get another Flurry proc. It's not worth to use Ice Lance first, because you will already be in a Frostbolt cast (when you get the proc you are already casting) and it's never worth cancelling Frostbolt DPS wise.

@@baliwatprachakul3179 Assuming that you already have Brain Freeze up when casting the 1st Frostbolt and Fingers of Frost - you should always press Flurry and waste 1 Ice Lance. It's always going to be better to cast Flurry there, it just does a lot more damage and it's worth to sack an Ice Lance for a chance of a new Flurry proc.

Hey Marko, So I got my 2 piece and I'm just trying to get a sense of what cov/leggo I should play for the different raid bosses Like ST bosses would I run necro SI or veth SI 2 target/4 target cleave would I run necro FW? I'm just trying to get a guide I can refer to when going in the raid

Currently to play it safe you can go Venthyr for the whole raid - Slick Ice on solo targets and for Cleave etc. you can go Freezing Winds. Next week we'll swap to Necrolords and it's gg hahah Slick Ice and Cold Front will be the play.

Is it possible with a higher ilvl with necrolords ( 2x legendary and 4x t set ) AND pure ST for better ramp up, to ignore icelances like 2-3 multitarget and just ramp UP frostbolt ? So only FB, bf and cometstorm ?? Otherwise we delay the ramp up a lot by casting icelances huh?

The problem is that you don't ramp as much on solo targets. There is only one Frostbolt target, so you will only increase your spell power by 1% per cast. On 2 targets your Frostbolt not only that it hits 2 targets, but it also increases your spell power by 2%.

Interesting question, but currently I don't know the answer. I usually don't run Freezing Rain at all, since Cold Front creates Frozen Orbs and those Orbs don't count towards Freezing Rain. Imma check the stats and then I will hit you back up.

Have you tried Cold Front with 4pc and double lego as necro in mass aoe, entirely ignoring ice lance...? Frostbolt spam, blizzard off cd, frozen orb off cd. Deathborne frostbolts generate 3 charges of cold front per frostbolt cast.

I have watched and rewatched this alot the past few weeks. I like i. I just have a question about comet storm talent and its usage. I pair caomet storm with my flurry so when i have flurry I Frostbolt -> comet storm - > icelance -> Frostbolt -> icelance. BUT - What if the first frostbolt in the sequence generates winter chill? The rule usually is, NEVER munch winters chill. So should i just cast the 2nd frostbolt with the chance of it munching, or put a flurry ind after the first icelance, and thus wasting FoF and maybe munching a winters chill buff?

If you get the Flurry proc from the first Frostbolt, just do -> Comet Storm -> Ice Lance -> Ice Lance -> Frostbolt -> Flurry.

Worst case scenario like this your Comet Storm might not crit 7 times, but 5 or 6 times. Good question overall, thank you! I should have explained that in the video, but these minors thing usually slip.

Do you think it will still be good to run double lege (cold front/necro) as Necrolord without set pieces? I'm having really bad luck with set pieces but I really want to run that legendary setup.

Uhhh, I didn't count that in hahaha :D But it won't be worth to run Necrolords on solo targets if you don't have the 2pc set bonus. But for cleave Necrolords should be better.

I see you doing frostbolt flurry then if your comet storm procs you follow it up with icelance then frostbolt icelance, can you explain this part? I thought it was just fb flurry icelance x2

I do that so my full Comet Storm gets affected with Winter's Chill. Basically guranteed Critical. Doing Ice Lane - Frostbolt - Ice Lance buys me more time and the 2nd Ice Lance will benefit from the Winter's Chill, since it has a faster travel time than Frostbolt. Bad thing that can happen from this is if the Frostbolt grants you Fingers of Frost, they will be instantly consumed.

@@deben1429 Okay so when you get 2x Tier set you may go Necrolords - they are supposed to do more damage, but care if the boss has downtime. If the boss has no downtime you'll be able to maintain 100% uptime on that Icy Veins. With downtime Venthyr might do a bit better. Personally I will just swap to Necrolords as soon as I get 2x Tier set. Currently I have 0 tier set - yikes me. Necrolords pull even more ahead with the addition of Double Legendary Powers. Then you definitely want to be NL and then you can pretty much run just Slick Ice or Cold Front.

It's the Set Bonus, maybe I should have mentioned the set bonus... Frost Mage 2-Piece - Your spells have a 25% chance to call down a. Comet Storm on your target enemy. This effect cannot occur more than once every 20 seconds. Frost Mage 4-Piece - Enemies hit by. Comet Storm take 2% increased damage from your Frost spells, up to 10% for 8 seconds.

You misunderstood the demonstration I think :D I have timestamps in the video, I explained how to do rotation with or without Double Legendary Power. You were looking at the Demo with only Tier set and without Double Legendary. You need to go a bit forward for the Double Legendary + Tier set rotation.

For starters I think that the Fire will be better until we get the 2 set piece. I am already surprised by good Frost mage numbers (the highest percentile players). It's impossible to compete with Fire logs who are the highest at the moment, since they are literally plagued by Power Infusions. Here you go Max Percentile logs - so top players from each fight and Frost is quite good considering none of the top Frost players got PI, while all the Fire Mages did. www.warcraftlogs.com/zone/statistics/29#dataset=100

Of course the situation will change over the course of progression, but in my opinion average Mage should look to be Frost for big part of progression. I'm literally counting on the fact that a vast majority of guilds will only kill a few bosses before we get Double Legendary. Also care about looking at Wlogs statistics this early :D

I know this is an old video but i have a few questions, i just returned to WoW and will play frost mage to do raiding and m+ with friends. I just got my 2 pc legendary so I figured necrolord will be my covenant for both raiding and m+. The problem is for legendary, i can only afford to craft 1 atm. Which is better to craft for multipurpose? Slick ice, freezing winds or unrelenting cold? Im aiming to do decent dmg but not top dps atm so just need an all rounder legendary. I alrdy got my belt but still figuring which legendary to craft for my other one and i dont have 2 pc comet storm yet

This isn't an old video :D I created it beforehand for it to be up to point for the whole patch! I would definitely make Slick Ice. You won't run Freezing Winds ever. Slick Ice will be better than it even on AoE, together with Cold Front. I would make Slick Ice first.

Any particular reason why slick ice is the all rounder? I thought cold front would be better if you have double legendary? Just asking cause in the video you said slick ice is for solo target or 2 target cleaves, while cold front is for aoe. I will be doing raids but mostly M+ so doesnt that mean i need cold front first? Or since the unit belt transforms us into deathborne, slick ice would scale insanely well because my frostbolts would hit 3 enemies now? It should be trackable correctly in sims. There is no need to justify PI for Frost Mages. We don't need it. We already have a ton of Haste from Icy Veins :D It would help a bit, but it's not a lot, especially since we are using Slick Ice as well.

Hello mark, im chris, im a frost mage with 257 ilvl with 33 crit 30 haste 10 mastery and 7 versatility with 2.168 intellect, i wanna ask you something why i cannot get 16k ice lance like you did? My dps on single target is like 6k to dummy, im venthyr and i use nadja like your conduit and soulbind setup, whats my problem mark, pls advice... Really appreciate it.

16k was on PvP dummy since those are only ones which can proc Mirrors of Torment. PvP dummies take 25% more damage from all of your abilities.

For 2 targets? It js Slick Ice, best slot for 2 Legendary Powers, like for the end game. Best is Slick Ice on Belt and Covenant Legendary made on Helm. Since Set Legs have Critical and Haste and Helm is Haste Mastery or something which isn't ideal.

Nope, I don't use macro - but you can use it. I will write it from my head: #showtooltip Icy Veins /cast Icy Veins /use Potion of Spectral Intellect /cast Frozen Orb You can also add /cast Berserking if you are a Troll for example - I don't know your race :D You can play with the macro, like only having Racial + Potion and manually press Frozen Orb.

@@Jambob1997 I mean you can anticipate it and you can do that in the anticipation of it. It's still RNG - 25% chance per spell cast. I don't think it's worth to do Flurry just because you are anticipating Comet Storm, but be mindful when you see the proc after your Flurry that you do Ice Lance - Frostbolt + Ice Lance.

Not a fan of it in Mythic+ I am going to do a huge damage with it on big packs. Like insane AoE, but your boss damage and solo target damage is going to be low, so it's not going to be worth it. It's just fake damage in my eyes and doesn't help your Key speed that much. I mean I can always be wrong and this build is the best, but really after playing it several times, I just feel like it's a pad build to have 20k overall DPS.
