HI; great video..I have some questions...they may also be of help to others when you have time, please? -1) will/does the shrimp try to eat/ catch live fish? (Like the spotted one I saw one in the video-) 2) OR can I keep a fish in same tank as 'pet'? 3) can freshwater items be fed? i.e., /fish/crayfish/snails etc.? would/do they even eat snails? (I'm worried freshwater live items would/could mess up the mantis shrimp's metabolism/ salt balance? (and possibly kill or shorten lifespan) 4) how long is the lifespan in captivity? 5)what's the best feeders and most affordable way to acquire live feeders? -pet store/online breeding them yourself etc. in your experience? 5)are you using true reef lighting or just standard led lights? (Maybe the issue with bad hunting sight you mention? just a comment/idea.) thanks a bunch!

When I feed my mantis shrimp I show it to him and he sees it and comes out of his cave then I drop it in the tank and he eats the food

It is actually highly recommended that you DON'T raise mantis shrimp, given their ability (and tendency) to crack aquarium glass. They are also incredibly aggressive and will attack any being it comes into contact with, including humans. I commend those brave enough to raise them.

Will they break glass if they punch if so how often or what material tank do you use
@xnori_artx2 ай бұрын
They can break a certain thickness of glass, but people usually use acrylic tanks since the mantis cant break it.

would it be possible for you to live in 100 sq. feet and if so, for how long?

With all due respect, I don’t need hostility. And yes it is, because I currently do. I will for the next 4 years because of my contract, and I will be resigning, so I technically will for another 8 years. Actually, as a matter of fact, it’s smaller than that. It’s a 9x10 foot room, making it 90 square feet. Asking a legit question doesn’t call for hostility, especially when I’m inexperienced in this topic. I’m learning and asking questions that I feel necessary, because I know people have just done things resulting in these small critters living miserable lives for no reason. So, just because you feel you know something, or because you feel something is impossible, doesn’t mean someone else doesn’t know or is incapable of that same task.

@Travis_200982 жыл бұрын
Live feeding is good because it's something that the animal needs, let two animals fight just to record it and for your own fun it's cruel and unethical

@@Travis_20098 so you won’t complain to the owner of the video feeding other harmless animals to a Giant Mantis Shrimp, but complain when I ask for something he made a series on?

@@nyill3512 some animals, just like the mantis shrimp, need to eat alive preys, so you want that prey to not be capable of damaging your animal, let two animals fight is not something both animals enjoy and it's just useless, in other words yes, you are correct

@K.L. Manring yes, sorry but pets such as these are not a necessity they’re a luxury. You don’t have to be stupid wealthy or however you exaggerated but you should have the funds without worry to give it the life it deserves.

Not recommended if it is a smaller tank but they shouldn’t be able to shatter a glass 40 gallon for example. It is better to use acrylic though
