I wear my lace up boots with my suit and it looks fine. I dress like I'm out of the 1920's -40's this could also be why I believe this works for me. Just remember have confidence is what you're wearing is the most important thing.

At that point (first half of the 20th century; later still for those of us whose pappys taught us well), gentlemen wore nicely made oxfords (not bluchers), and with at most a plain cap toe (no broguing; brogue piercing is so your shoes can get rid of water when you're out poaching on the landlord's preserve...).

I can confirm. About 5 months ago i bought my first pair of dress boots (a brown tan Chelsea) and since then it's made up probably 70% of my wears. I'm 21 and only work at a super market so dont have lots of chances for formal wear, but they still work great with chinos or denim jeans. I get plenty of compliments and they work great with formal as well

One thing that I would like to add. When it comes to what makes a shoe or a boot formal or casual, it doesn’t always work out the same for everyone. For instance, in the Scottish kilted community, the shoes and boots with lots of brogue detailing are considered more formal than plain leather. THe brogues have a long history in Scotland, and are typically the only style of shoe or boot that is worn with a kilt. In the kilted community, it is the color of the leather that determines the formality of the footwear. Brown leathers are casual daywear, where black leather is considered more formal for evening wear.

Being in a tropical country the dress boots are not really a must have due to the heat, but they be the risk you'd like to take when upping your style. When I was in South Africa and laid my eyes on the Chelsea boots I was instantly in love, so I love them, they're so versatile and can be dressed anyway you like. So the Chelsea boot is the only one in my wardrobe.

Just got my thursday natural captains a couple days ago, they are damn good quality, stylish, and versatile. I highly recommend them. They are also resole-able so they can last you a long time. The leather is gorgeous as well. No they're not the best quality out there, you gotta spend 600 to 800 on that, but at 199 they're great and will be adequate for the modern man.

Great informative video on boots! Just bought a pair of light brown leather cap toe boots by Four Brothers from DSW shoes for $60. Caught them on sale! Real leather and they have the same rubber sole as the Thursday boots. They broke in very easily and I wear them all the time. Great boot so far!

I only ever wear dress boots and occasionally shoes. Here in Australia the companies to consider are RM Williams or Baxter for good quality design boots. You should also have probably mentioned that you should not wear the same boots 2 days in a row. They need time to rest and will last longer too. Great vlog too.

I just got my Thursday Captain, brown, size 9.5 and it's a little too big. I emailed them about an exchange and I hope it works out. Even though I'm from Canada and I had to pay almost $400 for those boots (including taxes, duties, exchange rate, etc.) and wait weeks, and I'm going to have to pay for shipping cause international exchanges aren't free, I still wanted those boots cause you recommended them, Antonio. I started wearing Chukkas once I started caring about my style. You look ridiculous when you are wearing nice fitting jeans and a button up shirt and your hair styled and wearing running shoes. The Chukka is actually super comfortable and the one I got had wool inside so it was nice for winter in Norway.

Definitely don't wear them with anything but jeans, but my Red Wing Iron Rangers are a pretty fantastic boot. They look more dressed up than wearing a pair of sneakers, but they're still incredibly informal. That being said, jeans, a button up, and a pair of boots make for a great outfit to wear almost any time

The Thursday Boots website said to order 1/2 size smaller than you wear in sneakers. To my surprise, this worked perfectly! A little tight and uncomfortable at first. I wore them 2 hours a day and they eventually stretched-to-fit.

Three generations of my family have been wearing them and they're some of the best boots in the world. I believe those lace ups are brogans. Lanona Shoe company makes them as does Red Wing. Red Wing uses leather from SB Tanning in Red Wing Mn. SB Tanning has been used in military footwear since WWI. For me I wear a pair of Lucchese black fine ostrich skin boots and a regular black Lucchese for every day.
