I wanted to return and thank you for this video. We watched it before we left on our cruise which we just returned from last week, and it gave us realistic expectations. Overall we had a great cruise, but the evening entertainment was the weak point. The trick is to find out what time the doors open in Syd Norman's, and get in line about an hour before that. We had great seats at Rumors and Rock the Prom, but didn't make it in time on the other nights. For the people saying they wouldn't wait in a line that long, realize that you are not missing out on anything by doing it because there is literally nothing else going on in the whole ship at that time! I recommend lining up for the 80s Broadway show in the Spiegel tent about 30 minutes before doors open too. As soon as the doors open, the theater fills up, and then they are turning disappointed people away. We did really enjoy Burn the Floor, in fact we went on two separate nights (reservations one night, and stand-by the other). One of our two comedians was hilarious (Landry), we caught both his shows - possibly the funniest comedian we've ever seen on a cruise ship!

I will also add that this was our 21st Cruise overall, but first time on Norwegian. (13 on RC, 3 Princess, 3 Disney, 1 Carnival, 1 MSC). Our other Cruise experiences have conditioned us to expect large shows in the main theater almost nightly. The theater sat mostly empty several nights on Breakaway. This was definitely the weakest entertainment of any of our cruises. I know MSC gets a lot of hate, but they had a greater variety and higher number of evening shows. This MSC ship we were on last year even had the Cirque du Soleil style shows in a separate theater in the back of the ship (which were awesome). Again, we did have a really nice Cruise so I almost feel bad about complaining. We may even consider another Norwegian cruise in the future, but it certainly would not be on Breakaway, due to the weak evening entertainment. We were actually shopping for another cruise later this year since returning, and I find myself not even considering the Norwegian options on the week we have available.

Thank you for that very honest review. We’re sailing on the Breakaway transatlantic cruise in February of 2025. I was pretty surprised at the lack of entertainment options being offered, BUT I also realize that we’re terminating that cruise in Southampton, U.K. and therefore any crew members will be dumped in the U.K. - so it’s kinda understandable. It’s still disappointing though. I was hoping for better.

Crazy how taking out the headline show (Six) ruins the whole lineup. We were on in January before they cut Six and it was a good entertainment lineup. Except Syd Norman's. I am sure Rumours is great, but I might not ever find out. Bc no way am I waiting in a line like that when I am on a cruise. The only wait I want to tolerate is waiting to board the ship at check in. After that, if there are more lines, I have to consider alternative cruises in the future.

Syd Norman’s is one of my favorites but the venue is too small. I waited in line for the Rumors show because I really wanted to see it, and then had to stand which was annoying. Why not do as you said, have reservations and/or a 7:30 and 9:30 show? I don’t see why NCL can’t fix this! Great review!

I don't understand why their entertainment venues are so small. Like you, I wonder why they don't move the Syd Normans/Cavern shows to the bigger theatre OR repeat them! It seems like such an easy fix and a LOT of people are complaining.

Is it common for NCL to have such Underwhelmingly-designed main theatres? I’ve only been on Disney and then three other Royal ships…and all four ships, even the really small Disney Wonder, had traditionally designed, big, grand looking “Broadway”-sized theatres….NCL Bliss(and if looks like this ship did also), it looks like a blah, Regal Cinemas auditorium and it just LOOKED cheap and underwhelming (and yet, still, Jersey Boys just took advantage of EVERY SINGLE square inch of space and it looked Wonderful!)…not sure if our sailing was just entertainment-light, but we didn’t even have any game shows, had only two pretty bad comedians, and pretty lackluster solo entertainers (for some reason, the “country music” performers were from Croatia and Bolivia, respectively, and JUST couldn’t really pull the genre off very well! Oof!)

pretty standard for NCL until the Prima class which although i don't love those ships the theaters are incredible.
