This video is a summary of my methods and materials I´m using when creating all type of miniature grass surfaces. This to achieve the ultimate realistic scenery for diorama, fantasy rpg, LEGO and gaming boards.
We will also take a look at the new matt (muted colors) grass from Noch, which really is next level in terms of realism for static grass.
We´re also working with the ground covering materials and exploring when and how they become very important for some grass surfaces.
This video is brought to you in corporation with Noch Gmbh. Visit Noch webshop on: www.noch.com
The music played by the guitarist is licensed from Amaze Music. Composer is Danne Machmar. Check out the latest hit "Save my dayz" • GENOS , GENOS 2 ORIGIN...
other channels working with grass is Luke Towan and the terraintutor.

Martin I am a fan who has followed you for a while a now and 2 things come to mind. One, your friendly manner, and 2 your demonstration of your modeling talents is great. This particular video I have been holding on to for now. I will incorporate your system as I proceed. The one tip I don't see done is the grounding of the applicator. Seems simple but for a newbie it is worth mentioning in my opinion. Question - I clip my alligator clip to an metal awe then I stick that into the base material. Is that okay, or If you have a better idea please lay it on us. Al

What a brilliant tutorial! One query, when you apply grass to an isolated patch of glue do you have to hold the electrical supply probe in that same patch? It wasn't clear from what I could see. And when I try it the grass just lays flat.
@honestgbfan5324
@honestgbfan5324 3 жыл бұрын
your answer is YES if I am reading the question correctly. the conductivity of the electricity through the wet glue is what attracts the static grass to point up. like a magnet would with positive and negative ends. When I make grass tufts, I use a metal pan and only need to attach the alligator clip to the pan. But on my layout, with the wood or foam surface underneath the scenery, there is nothing to conduct the electricity except through the water within the glue. Sorry the answer is so late :( But then I am way late on my own layout progress as well :( sadness But I think I figured it out the issue and can move forward now :) I believe I have commented on this video in the past as I have watched it several times but again... AWESOME!

@@honestgbfan5324 Thanks for your answer, honestgbfan, appreciated. I did persevere and found that attaching the clip to the rails close by the intended area of grass actually seemed to work. Anyway, layout almost finished (for now, extension being planned!).

@marklinofsweden 5 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you! Yeah, I heard from others the the Grassmaster 1 was lacking in power. This GM2 deos a good job. I´m experimenting now to get better performance from the 12mm grass. I would estimate that only 10% of the 12mm grass actually remains standing after application and vacuuming, which is poor. It has to do both with the glue and the operator and the power of the applicator. Work is in progress!

I have followed the instructions and I'm using Woodland scenics tac and grass and using the wire next to where I'm applying grass but no joy. 70% of the grass is flat any advice to what I'm doing wrong?? Your help would be much appreciated 🙏
@marklinofsweden
@marklinofsweden Жыл бұрын
12mm is tricky. I typically first apply a thin layer of 6mm, so there’s some standing grass on the surface. Then I replace the grass in the applicator to 12mm. This will help the 12mm to stand up better. It cannot really stand on its own. It’s too tall. I finish up by vaccuuming before glue is dry. This also helps the grass to stand in a vertical position. Good luck

My 12mm grass does not turn out as well as yours. It comes out almost curled. and doesnt stand up straight. Its WWS brand static grass if that helps and my applicator is by them too. Any tips to get it to work well?
@marklinofsweden
@marklinofsweden 5 жыл бұрын
12mm grass is a challenge. I estimate that only 10% of the fibers are standing up after application. Situation improves slightly by mixing with 6mm fibers, letting the glue dry a minute before application and by keeping the layer of glue thin. Curled grass is a product problem. Noch grassfibers are straight. Older generation of 12mm static grass were typically curled and impossible to apply. Change brand if WWS lack performance.
