I would like to explain that the sea near Shanghai is not blue, and it is not due to pollution. The Yangtze River is the largest river in China, and Shanghai is located at its estuary. The Yangtze River brings a significant amount of sediment from its upstream every year, and through long-term geological processes, it has shaped the Shanghai area as we see it today. When the Yangtze River flows into the East China Sea, it carries a large amount of sediment, which leads to the turbidity of the seawater in the vicinity of Shanghai. At the same time, this process has also formed many islands, among which the three main ones are Chongming Island, Changxing Island, and Hengsha Island, all of which belong to Shanghai. Since the establishment of the People's Republic of China 70 years ago, the Yangtze River has added more than 1,200 square kilometers of land to Shanghai, and this process is still ongoing.
