This device produces non ionizing radiation and therefore cannot cause cancer. Microwave radiation or mwr is a type of light that has a wavelength that is longer and less energetic than visible light. It sees most materials as "clear" and is able to pass through but sees water and fats as "black" to it and is absorbed. It's energy is then transfered to that water and fat. The atoms of each begin to become energetic and vibrate. That vibration is perceived as heat. This is how a microwave oven heats your food. This cannot cause cancer. Mwr is less energetic than visible light. Visible light is less energetic than x-ray or gamma radiation. x-ray and gamma radiation can cause cancer because their wavelength is energetic enough to knock electrons from atoms creating isotopes. In this way they can alter your dna causing cancer. this is why you were a lead vest when getting an x-ray at the doctor. Microwave radiation on the other hand cannot do this. The distance this energy can travel is limited. The energy emmited from this device is limited in range by the law of inverse squares. The power of the beam is inversely proportional to the square of the distance of the target. Although this device seems very powerful when things are close to the waveguide at any distance none of these effects can be observed. this is due to the loss of power over a distance. My daughter who was outside the door up the stairs from where I was at, was not in any danger. in fact she was likely receiving more radiation from natural sources than she was from my device at any given time. Although this device cannot cause cancer, and is limited in range, it is still incredibly dangerous. Some of the actual hazards associated with this device are: mwr can penetrate into your body causing internal burns on deep tissue. It could boil watery parts of your body such as your eyes, bladder, heart, and testicles. the Internals are high voltage and therefore present all the hazards of any high voltage system. The insulator inside the magnetron is made from beryllium oxide which can be crushed into a powder that CAN cause cancer if inhaled but is safe in a solid (non powdered) form. Also mwr can cause damage to electronic devices and can cause issues to people with pace makers. Think emp because that's basicly what it is.

Actually yes it doesnt ionize our cells. However newer research has shown microwave damages our LAAM. Which in turn replicates those damaged proteins into cancers.

Troy Powers if you can build a cannon That generates HEAT and sends out rays of heat
@TroyPowersPowerfulInnovations8 жыл бұрын
BX StopMotionYT heat itself is electromagnetic radiation of a different wavelength than microwave. Most of the time it is radiation in the infrared wavelengths of the spectrum and we can not see it but sometimes it is in the visible wavelengths like when a piece of metal is red hot. If you want a heat cannon I have used some pretty powerful heat guns for different projects. They are almost like really powerful hair dryers.

In theory you could use rotating magnetic field around the output, either using coils or a rotating magnetic ring. If set up correctly It will spin the microwaves into a vortex and allow you to focus the beam. You could then fit a small alignment laser.........
@flynnt776 ай бұрын
How about some stepper motor housings? Remove the rotating internals, hook a few of the hollow shells together in a line using all-thread or long bolts, then hook them up in series to a single stepper controller. Experiment with the rotation speed until the desired effect is achieved. A little bonus would be that the aluminum housings themselves would act as a waveguide, with the rotating electromagnetic field further concentrating the beam. Would that work?

So doing this around kids is a good idea? With a good 3d printer you can actually make the parts for a portal gun or turret.
@TroyPowersPowerfulInnovations8 жыл бұрын
Previous comments already talk about that and explain how I made it as safe as possible by using a water filled shield. Also I have a 3d printer but I still enjoy making things by hand. I didn't intend this to be an exact replica of the portal gun otherwise it would actually look like the portal gun. It was after it was being constructed that the portal gun similarities were pointed out, mostly due to the color scheme.

Microwaves _are_ EMFs which frequency is between 300MHz & 300GHz (1mm < λ < 1m). Domestic microwave ovens operate around 2.45GHz. They are defined as a "Consumer ISM Equiment" under Title 47 CFR Part 18 (more precisely, §18.107). FCC has to do with these. Definitely. #KnowYourLawsKid When you build yourself an HERF Gun, it falls under Title 47 CRF Part 15, and provisions of §15.5 and §15.23 for "Home-built devices" applies to it. www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?SID=f32c8785233eaf9edeca088886d148a2&mc=true&node=pt47.1.15&rgn=div5#se47.1.15_123

The screen resisted because it just created a magnetic field between the two. Power on power makes a magnetic field. Microwaves cannot penetrate a magnetic field. However a emf field is also dangerous.

Nice! Do you have the expertise to design the waveguide dimensions or was there some trial and error?
@TroyPowersPowerfulInnovations4 ай бұрын
Thanks! You know it’s funny because I’m not sure. I think I have enough knowledge to say I have the expertise but since there is always something more to learn and always someone to learn it from it’s hard to tell. I have studied electromagnetic radiation of all types for almost 20 years. I also have a good background in electronics and mechanical engineering. I also teach courses on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems currently. I read quite a bit about the topic directly before designing the wave guide and studied every one I could find. I came up with this one based on my reading, notes, and thoughts on the matter. The first one I made of this shape is the one used. I tried a few other angles with the same shape but this one had the most power over distance in minor testing over the course of a few days. Almost all of the waveguides were welded by my friend Jay who did an awesome job welding the thin metal do dads I brought to him. Thanks Jay! I had limited time to construct this piece as I was building it for a bacon themed event at the science center of Iowa. It was revealed at the science center along with one that used a backpack power supply. Along with a huge chunk of my other projects, these have been shown at events annually there for almost a decade, although they don’t get turned on and used at events and rarely ever at all anymore.
